NT means "Non Toxic", the primers contain no lead or other heavy metal.
They use a small primer because the Dinol lead-free mix is "hotter."
They are fairly common if there is a nearby indoor range whose operators worry about lead pollution.

Winchester will tell you they should not be reloaded with standard small pistol primers but it will work. The main worry is mixing large and small primer brass going into a progressive loader. Sorting out the oddballs is an added step in the reloading process.

These are the Win Non-Toxic rounds. They seem to be getting more common, depends on where you shoot. They are loadable with SP primers but the hassle of having two types of primer sizes in one caliber just isn't worth it for me.

Doesn't Federal and a few others make cases like that too? I know I've got a bunch of them in my buckets that I haven't sorted out yet. One brand in particular, but I can't think of the name right now, Having a "senior moment".

Federal makes NT ammo as well. The ones I saw had heavy primer crimps, more than most military. Not worth fooling with unless you have a lot at a very low price and have the time to mess with them.

I just sort them out and then load them as a batch. I can't tell the difference on paper between the large and small primer pocket loads.

Just put them aside and when you get enough to make it worthwhile, load them with small pistol primers and shoot. There may come a time when you'll be glad to have any kind of brass.........

Hope this helps.

Fred

I have some of these also. They wre given to me by someone who didnt want to mess with them. I was recomended to use a magnum primer with them, but that doesnt seem quite right to me, I dont understand the need. What say you people?

Magnum primer? Not really useful.

Like Bushmaster says, it's only a few fps slower. Big deal. Not worth the hotter and more expensive primer.

A few times per year the local Police Department has a charity shoot, but they don't let you pick up your own brass. I use the NT brass for those shoots. They can have them!

Thats kind of what I thought too. I was just wondering if anyone else would have anything to say about that.
