Odd looking shoulder on 5.56 brass

Hi all! So I'm running some range pickup lake city 5.56 brass through the sizer and I come across some weird looking ones. The sizing die restored the shoulder to the correct dimensions and it passes the headspace gauge. Can anyone help me identify what caused this? Pic is the oddity (left) next to a piece of brass out of my gun (right).

Looks like dirt in the chamber or fl sizing die. The neck looks like it was not sized.

More than likely talking outta my arse, but could that have been fired in a .222 Rem chambered vehicle.....?..............that stubby shoulder is weird...............

222 has a long neck...

The neck looks like it was not sized.

This pic is before I sized it. I picked it up looking like this and it still had a crimped in primer. So whichever gun fired it must have done this.

I didn't say it WAS a .222..........
I asked if it was a .223 fired in a .222 chambered gun to get that stubby shoulder........................................................JFC.......................

Its interesting, whatever it is! Comparing the 222 case to the 223 case I don't think there is any way that a 223 would chamber in a 222. The body below the shoulder of the 222 case is much shorter than a 223.

It looks like someone reamed out the neck area of a 5.56 chamber. Why? Good question.

Or perhaps fired in a 222 Rem Mag or one of the larger bore 223 based wildcats.

I once read that there were some 5.56 with a double angle neck like that to funnel the long tracer into the barrel if chamber pressure expanded the tracer cavity.

Modified fl die neck? Like mine.

I have 2 RCBS FL dies. The 1 has been neck reamed, by me. It now has a tapered neck.

Hope you can see the difference in photos.

I don't see a comparison vs a stock 223 but it looks a lot like my 6x45
