This will take some time to sort out the votes. I am not sure how official it can be though without the imprimatur of Oleg and the board of directors. I guess it will need to be an unofficial official song.;)

Personally I'd pick something by Johnny Cash.

Or the Highwaymen.

Because I'm pretty sure that PJ harvey's "Big Exit" is a pro-gun tune, not all of our members like PJ.'

"Lawyers Guns and Money" is a fine choice.

"Bad Company" is a good choice.

Or perhaps the silly litty county ditty "Barrel of My Gun" by Slim Cessna's Auto Club.

Or the slightly creepy "American Wheeze" by Sixteen Horsepower.

"A to the K" by Cypress Hill? (yes it's about winning a gunfight with a Kalashnikov... lyrics wouldn't pass the Art's Gramma test)

"Shotgun" by Southern Culture on the Skids would be a FINE choice, well at least for playing at the annual THR barbeque.

Too many choices.

How about this one.

Charlie Daniels

"Simple Man"

I ain't nothin' but a simple man
They call me a redneck I reckon that I am
But there's things going on
That make me mad down to the core.

I have to work like a dog to make ends meet
There's crooked politicians and crime in the street
And I'm madder'n hell and I ain't gonna take it no more.

We tell our kids to just say no
Then some panty waist judge lets a drug dealer go
Slaps him on the wrist and then he turns him back out on the town.

Now if I had my way with people sellin' dope
I'd take a big tall tree and a short piece of rope
I'd hang 'em up high and let 'em swing 'til the sun goes down

Well, you know what's wrong with the world today
People done gone and put their Bible's away
They're living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land
The good book says it so I know it's the truth
An eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth
You better watch where you go and remember where you been
That's the way I see it I'm a Simple Man.

Now I'm the kinda man that'd not harm a mouse
But if I catch somebody breakin in my house
I've got twelve guage shotgun waiting on the other side

So don't go pushing me against my will
I don't want to have to fight you but I dern sure will
So if you don't want trouble then you'd better just pass me on by

As far as I'm concerned there ain't no excuse
For the raping and the killing and the child abuse
And I've got a way to put an end to all that mess

Just take them rascals out in the swamp
Put 'em on their knees and tie 'em to a stump
Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest

You know what's wrong with the world today
People done gone and put their Bible's away
They're living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land
The Good Book says it so I know it's the truth
An eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth
You better watch where you go and remember where you been
That's the way I see it I'm a Simple Man

Of course it wouldn't be very fitting for our female members, but they could pick their own.:D

It's rough, but I took Skunky's idea and added some verses.

We got ninjas, we got posers,
IPSC gamey hosers,
we got lawyers,
we got doctors,
I even seen bears in black 'copters
And we like to debate AK versus AR...
Hmmm mmm mmmm MMM mmm I love THR....

chorus:
I love THR, it's my kinda place,
Threads about black tac gear
Put a big smile on my face
No cover charge, come as you aaaaaaaaaare,
Hmmm mmmm mmm MMM mmm I love THR...

We got cowboys, we got truckers,
Broke as heck fools called crufflers,
We got talkers,
We got fighters,
reloaders and others,
And the vetern's talk about their battle scars,

(chorus)

I've seen wheel guns,
We got High Powers,
Blue collared boys and rednecks,
Some Glock lovers,
Lots of Rugers,
I've even seen mutant bears and zombies.
And we like to send our .50 so ungodly far.
Hmmm mmmm mmm MMM mmm I love THR...

(breakdown)

I like my Taurus,
I like my Sprinfrield,
I like to take 'em out shooting,
I like to clean 'em now and then,
But I love THR.
It's my kinda place.
just fooling around the forums puts a bit smile on my face,
No cover charge, come as you are.
mmmmm hmmm hmmm I love THR.
mmmmm hmmm hmmm I love this little board.

Hmmmm, a song by charlie daniels would be great. But how about some steppenwolf? Born to be wild! Yes, I htink that fits the bill....:D

Iced Earth - Declaration Day

A desperate situation
Forced to retaliation
The task ahead, a burden
Men will suffer, that's for certain
We'll charge into the fire
The cause, we must inspire
We raise our fist to tyranny
A high price, Freedom is not free

The odds are stacked against us
But with our resolve relentless
And arrogance their Weakness
Our cause is just, we won't be beaten
Upon this declaration
Will come a brand new nation
Where men are seen as equal
Governed by and for the people

- Chorus -
So we make our stand and pray
On this declaration day
For independence I will fight
With liberty I will defy
So we make our stand and pray
On this declaration day
Give me liberty or give me death
I'll fight 'till my last breath

With virtue as our beacon
Our cause is charged as treason
Battle worn and starving
Through the hell of war we'll keep marching
The birth of our new nation
An act of desperation
We'll force king George down to his knees
Capitulation

- Repeat Chorus -

- Rock on

If I Had a Gun

Would I be amused
Would you be impressed
That I had the power
To put a hole into your chest?
When the kids are crying
And the welfare check's been spent
Would I rob a liquor store
To get some money for the rent?

If I had a gun

Would I start smoking Marlboros?
Would I stop smoking Kents?
Would I gain some new respect?
Would I gain some confidence?
Would I suddenly go crazy
And shoot my family?
And see myself years later
On some crime show on TV

If I had a gun

Would I wear it in a holster?
Would I keep it concealed?
Would I put it on the table
Every time that I'm misdealed?
When I hear a nearby gunshot
When I'm up at night alone
Would I feel a little safer
Here in my urban home?

If I had a gun

-Dead Milkmen-

No doubt it should be "Simple Man" by the Charlie Daniels Band

I'll vote simply for "My country 'tis of thee."

Wes

EDIT: Just thought of a good one. "I'll Stand My Ground" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Relates quite well to fighting gun grabbers.

Well I won't back down
No I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

No I'll stand my ground, won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin me down
gonna stand my ground
... and I won't back down

Chorus:
(I won't back down...)
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
(and I won't back down...)
hey I will stand my ground
and I won't back down

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin me around
but I'll stand my ground
...and I won't back down

Chorus

Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
hey I won't back down
hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
hey I will stand my ground
and I won't back down
No I won't back down...

--------------------

Also of note is "Refugee":

We got somethin' we both know it
We don't talk too much about it
Yeah it ain't no real big secret all the same
Somehow we get around it
Listen it don't really matter to me baby
You believe what you want to believe
You see you don't have to live like a refugee

Somewhere, somehow somebody
Must have kicked you around some
Tell me why you wanna lay there
And revel in your abandon
Listen it don't make no difference to me baby
Everybody's had to fight to be free
You see you don't have to live like a refugee
Now baby you don't have to live like a refugee

Baby we ain't the first
I'm sure a lot of other lover's been burned
Right now this seems real to you
But it's one of those things
You gotta feel to be true

Somewhere, somehow somebody
Must have kicked you around some
Who knows, maybe you were kidnapped
Tied up, taken away and held for ransom
It don't really matter to me
Everybody's had to fight to be free
You see you don't have to live like a refugee
I said you don't have to live like a refugee

Artist/Band: Robbins Marty
Lyrics for Song: Big Iron
Lyrics for Album: Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs
To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business no one dared to make a slip
for the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side slowly lookin' all around
He's an outlaw loose and running came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to do some business with the big iron on his hip
big iron on his hip

In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer though a youth of twenty four
And the notches on his pistol numbered one an nineteen more
One and nineteen more

Now the stranger started talking made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona ranger wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red
After Texas Red

Wasn't long before the story was relayed to Texas Red
But the outlaw didn't worry men that tried before were dead
Twenty men had tried to take him twenty men had made a slip
Twenty one would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

The morning passed so quickly it was time for them to meet
It was twenty past eleven when they walked out in the street
Folks were watching from the windows every-body held their breath
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death
About to meet his death

There was forty feet between them when they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the ranger is still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather fore a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground
Oh he might have went on living but he made one fatal slip
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

Another vote for Marty.

Silent Running by Mike and the Mechanics

Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

There's a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Can you hear me running (can you hear me calling you?)
(Can you hear me) hear me calling you?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running babe?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running?
Calling you, calling you

A rollicking little ditty by James McMurtry called Choctaw Bingo has this description of a High Road outing, amongst its other lyrics:

"…..bob and mae come up from
some little town way down by
lake taxoma where he coaches football
they were two-A champions for two years running
but he says they wont be this year
no they wont be this year
and he stopped off in tuska at the pop knife and gun place
bought a sks rifle and a couple full cases of that steel core ammo
with the beardam primers from some east bloc nation
that no longer needs em
and a desert eagle thats one great big old pistol
i mean fifty caliber made by bad-a$$ 'ebrews
and some surplus tracers for that old BAR
of slatons as soon as it gets dark
were gonna have us a time
were gonna have us a time…….."

How about this one? It's a little grim, but it illustrates very well the original meaning of the 2nd Amendment.......

"Vote with a Bullet"
by Corrosion of Conformity

Vote!
This long hand that breaks our backs
Still casting shadows on all that we see
Unjustified....mercy killing is just a feeling
To keep our numbers from being free

(1st chorus)
Prison for praise is not worth thinking
Sin is still in and our ballots are shrinking
So unleash the dogs- the only solution
Forgive and forget? F*** no
I'm talking about a revolution

The prophet man's got a needle in his hand
Draws his dreams from your soul- Bleeding minds into sand
The year of the fear has arrived decades too late
And our right to stand and fight is now sealed in fate

(repeat 1st chorus)

One last chance mission with a vision
"Cos our lives are just cards in their stack
Our time is short, but theirs is shorter
How much longer can they hold us back?

(2nd Chorus)
Prison for praise- the obvious answer
Once had power mad - living disaster
Don't f*** with me 'cos I'm on the freedom train
That bears no name- this time
I'm voting with a bullet

The view they once knew made our nooses too tight
The justice in swine
The Devil in God

So God bless my soul- I've got total control
And the crosshairs lined up dead in my sights

I'm Voting with a Bullet

ANM
