ohio law states "Institutions for the care of mentally ill persons" are off limts does a retirement home fall into this??? i well be working there so i wanted to know

Where is that quote from? What I see in the Ohio Revised Code is

or an institution that is maintained, operated, managed, and governed pursuant to division (A) of section 5119.02 of the Revised Code or division (A)(1) of section 5123.03 of the Revised Code;

5119.02 references institutions operated by the Dept. of Mental Health and 5123.03 references institutions operated by the Dept. of Developmental Disabilities.

If the nursing home isn't operated by either of those state agencies, then it should be legal to carry there.

Ohio is not a right-to-work state. An employer can fire a non-union employee for having the wrong hair color, if they desire. The McDonald v. Chicago Supreme Court ruling still only applies to firearms possession in the home - they never addressed carrying a gun in public or at work.

Correct. In some States, such as Georgia, one can concealed carry at his place of business unless it's expressly prohibited by the business owner. It doesn't necessarily have to be in writing. We're also an employment-at-will State; stick to your guns and you'll find yourself looking for another job.
