Ohio issues more than 58,000 new concealed-carry licenses

The article gives the concealed-carry license figures for last year and since it started. 58,066 licenses were new and 52,146 licenses were renewed in 2014.

There is an interesting breakdown by county. The county coming in number one with the highest amounts of concealed carry permits issued and renewed is Franklin County is where Columbus (the state capitol is). Coming in second is Lake County is a Cleveland suburb where Mentor resides. Number three is Montgomery County is where Dayton is home to. And finally coming in number four is Hamilton County, home of Cincinnati.

"More than 680,000 people have received new licenses or renewed existing ones since the state began issuing concealed-carry permits in 2004."

.

They started out at four years, just like our drivers' licenses. A while back, though, they went to five years with a small price increase.

Myself and 3 of my brothers (plus two of their wives) and even my 94 year old father all have CCWs (technically called CHLs - concealed handgun license). At our family re-unions we haven't been robbed once. I also like the fact that you can open carry without a license in Ohio (if you are of age and no record -though I rarely open carry myself. Just like the idea I can if I so choose.

I try to persuade as many of my friends as I can to get their CHL - even if they don't plan on carrying everyday. I think Obama has done his part in scaring a lot of folks into thinking this right might be taken away (that crap blew up in his face, didn't it?)

Oh, btw... GO BUCKEYES!! Not sure if I like the new trophy, but glad it's in their showcase. :D
