I have a question about the ohio law.

If you have a permit to carry concealed and walk into a store for say that has the little anti gun sign in the red circle and get caught what is the charge?

I always look for the sign and if I see it, I go someplace else. well I stopped at a local auto parts store the other day and did not see the sign so i went in. When a friend of mine said where did you get the water pump? I told him and he said Oh I never go in there because they don"t suport the right to carry. This lead us to a discussion about where there little hidden sign is and what would happen if you get caught

One friend of mine said to me, same as tresspassing. Police would ask you to leave and possible ticket.

Another friend of mine said, way more then that including possible permit suspention.

Chances of being caught are slim to none.I've carried since '81 and I've never been *made*.To your credit, you looked for a sign and saw none.If someone makes you.All you have to do is say Sign, what sign?I didn't see any sign.
For some reason I NEVER see signs that say I can't carry into a business.
Maybe I need to get my vision checked
If they threatned to call the cops on you, leave. And don't patronize them again.EVER.

If you can't see the sign, it's not there....

Unfortunately, OH law doesn't require any specific size or wording and we're supposed to know in the most dangerous cases (restaurants that serve liquor, "government" owned buildings [that we paid for!]).

Generally speaking, if a private property owner (or agent) "catches" you, they can ask you to leave. If you don't, it's a $150 ticket (not counting legal fees). Don't get too many of these....

If it's a restaurant or public building, it could be a Felony....

The good news is that there don't appear to have been many prosecutions in the eighteen months or so that the law's been in effect. The bad news is that you don't want to be the test case.

General rule of thumb: If you don't have some overriding reason to patronize these folks, STAY OUT. Drop 'em a letter telling them why, and maybe including a copy of the sales receipt from some other place....

Regards,

Yep. They may not respect the nation's civil rights, but they do respect the almighty dollar.

good points

I try very hard to follow the laws as best as i can and to punish places that have decide to discriminate against me by not spending my money in there places of business. Not that my dollar or lack of will be missed by them, but as part of a larger group (people with permits) together could maybe make a difference.

I would never carry into a place that serves drinks, I know that is big time. I was more concerned with places like wal-mart, wall-greens, burger king and joes grease pit dinner. I think unless something happened in the store know one would no but i was asking "what if"

Ohio law doesn't specify a certain size or verbage for signs, but they must be conspicuously placed. Obviously, if you looked and didn't notice, then it wasn't conspicuous enough now was it? Oh yea, and concealed means concealed.
