SO I was out shooting my RIA 1911 .45 and my EMP 9mm last night, or rather, really early this morning (like 4:30 or so)...
Any I'm not getting into a peeing match over caliber, or stopping power (whatever that is), but I will say this.
I was practicing slow draw/shoot drills from 5 meters into the indoor trap, and when I shot the .45, I'd get chunks of sand blowing back at me, I could hear little particles hitting the cement in front o me, sometimes copper jacket flying through the air.
But with the 9, same lane, same target, same trap, same distance, same brand of ammo (greenbox UMC), all FMJ, and nothing. Bullet goes through target,
down into the trap, and that was it...
It just seems like with all that debris flying everywhere, that .45's just gotta do more damage. But maybe not. But it sure seems like it. I sure wouldn't want to practice any 3 foot drills with it, I'd need armor to stop the sand...
