OK, can you pocket carry a 9mm or not?

Specifically the Taurus 709 or the Kel Tec PF-9.
I'm used to having allot of stuff in my pockets and I usually wear jeans.
So, can they be pocket carried or do you have to downgrade to one of the .380 offerings?

I can carry a full sized Government 45ACP it my jeans pocket. (It's pretty obvious I'm carrying, though.) I think it basically depends on the size of the pocket.

I regularly carry my PF9 in a DeSantis "Nemesis" in my front right pocket.

Feels *good* too!

I have to throw in a dissenting opinion here. Having had both the PF9 and PT709 ....I never thought either fit in a regular pants pocket(btw: the 709 is larger that the PF). Yea, maybe a big "cargo" pocket in a pinch but that's not ideal, imo.

easily, depending on the pants. i pocket carry my g27 in slacks and cargo pants / cargo shorts. it will not even come close to fitting in the pocket of my jeans, though.

I think it really, really depends on your particular clothing.

IMHO jeans front pockets are lousy for carrying anything. Even if something fits, the way the openings are cut always give me trouble during the draw.

It takes a pretty small gun to be able to carry in a variety of pants pockets. Even the Rohrbaugh pushes the limits. Unless all you ever wear are loose fitting, bagging pants, then people are going to notice you appear "happy to see them". Pleated pants help, but jeans are generally a bit snug for many small guns to disappear into.

You can, with the right pockets.

I've managed to slip my PPS into a pocket in a crappy neoprene IWB holster as a "right now" stopgap. A good heavy belt helps here as well.
But I don't pocket carry because I have enough crap in my pockets already, IWB is essentially adding a pocket designed for retention of a particular pistol.

I don't even have a spare pocket for a reload most days, and I generally wear cargo pants. Thinking of cargos, a Walther P.1 will fit into the rear pocket of 5.11 cargo pants, as will just about every pistol I own with a 5" or less barrel. Can't sit down anywhere, of course.

I wear jeans 99% of the time and while I have carried airweights,pf9 or a kahr pm9
I still have a vissible buldge, about the only pocket carry I do anymore is if Im in shorts or
dressed up(not often)otherwise its a 1911 IWB at 3:30 or so.My pm9 is not bad but it still prints a little.

It seems pretty reasonable to me. When I pocket carry, it's a P238. These are the dimensions of the P238 versus the PF-9:

P238
5.5" L x 3.9" H x 1.1" W (19 oz. loaded)

PF-9
5.85" L x 4.3" H x .88" W (18 oz. loaded)

The narrowness and slightly lower weight of the PF-9 would be an advantage. Overall, the dimensions are close enough that it seems to me that it would be about an even proposition.

...

Yep, SA EMP 1911 9mm, summer, shirt out, gun in front left, horizontal, pocket, cross draw, with grip out of pocket but flush..

Carrying a gun in the pocket is one thing.

Carrying a gun in the pocket without it being obvious is another.

Carrying a gun in the pocket, and actually getting it out in a hurry can be two different things.

There are guns that are easier to pocket carry than a hammerless revolver. Most autos (for me) tend to snag more easily though due to the shape of the gun.

I pocket carry my PF9 all the time. When I go out in shorts/pants with small pockets I use the belt clip feature. I don't own a holster for that little guy.

Been carrying a Kel Tec P11 all day in my carpenter's jeans front pocket. All that resides there is the gun in a Blackhawk pocket holster. I've been pocketing this gun for 14 years. If it prints a little, no big deal way Texas law reads. It's not obvious to the casual observer, just looks like a wallet.

I have a Kahr PM9 that I pocket carry in a Desantis Super Fly holster. Plenty of room in pleated dress pant pockets but pistol will not pull out of standard jeans pockets with a Pearce grip on the mag.
