OK, can you pocket carry a 9mm or not?

This is the holster I'll be using with my PF-9. I wear loose fitting Old Navy jeans, and with this in the pocket, it prints just a little bit, but the print is rectangular in shape, and makes it look like I have a small day planner or calendar in my pocket:

IMO having the mag right in front of the grip makes no sense... blocks access to the grip on the draw. Also, you'll have to swap hands if you ever need a reload (not that you will, but that's the point of carrying a spare mag, right)?

about 90% of the time I have long pants on I'm wearing a light vest as a fotog's. I carry my Makarov in a vest pocker, inside with a heavy denim liner. plenty of room to draw fairly quickly. with jeans I may pocket carry Mak but usually my Beretta .32acp and wearing shorts the .32acp isn't noticeable but again I may have my vest on, lots of pockets and I carry a bit of stuff includeing spare mag.

These guns, while slim and light, IMO are a little large in height and length to make good pocket guns, especially in jeans which tend to have smaller pockets. If you switch to cargo pants or something like the Carhartt Hamilton Pant that have deeper pockets, they might work better for you. Personally I prefer the Kahr PM9 for a 9mm pocket gun.

I often carry my Taurus M85UL 2" .38 special DA revolver in the front pocket of my carpenter's jeans or Wrangler Cargos front pocket (not the cargo pocket, carry in a cargo pocket sux). My P11 is shorter than my 2" Taurus revolver by a bit.

The 9s are only marginally bigger than those tiny .380s everyone likes.

I usually carry my S&W 442 in my front pocket. You forget that it is there in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster. I have front pocket carried my makarovs, PPK & last night I threw my CZ 75 compact in the front pocket of my large Carhart jeans! I put it in a generic pocket holster that covered the barrel up to the trigger guard and slid it in the pocket . Mind you I was just running around the house & yard & I had a large sweat shirt on. I always build the wardrobe around the gun. I also had a good belt on to hold up my pants.

The answer depends greatly on the size of the gun ... and on the size of your pockets, I suppose. The larger question is whether this is the most efficient way to carry a 9mm handgun -- and it's one that only you can answer for yourself.

Actually, it works quite well. I can still get a good draw on the pistol, and when I draw, it moves the entire holster up my pocket until it snags on the top of the pocket. At this point where the holster stays, and the gun comes out of the pocket, the top of the spare mag is actually sticking out of my pocket, and with the way I have it facing, it makes it easy to cross-draw grab the spare mag and insert it properly. I really love the whole setup.

I've been carrying a Rohrbaugh 9 in my front right pocket for more than 2 years. Slacks, casual pants, shorts, whatever. Jeez, people carry fancy phones nearly as big and nobody is paying attention to a slightly lumpy pocket.

I can carry a full sized Government 45ACP it my jeans pocket. (It's pretty obvious I'm carrying, though.) I think it basically depends on the size of the pocket.

Shaq, is that you?

I carry front pocket daily..
PF9 usually or Taurus 85 when I wear relaxed fit jeans.
Regular fit jeans is a different story, the pockets are pretty small, so I either carry a P3AT or a 9mm IWB

I pocket carry my PF9

I am able to front-pocket carry my PF9 in some of my jeans but it depends on the pockets. Some fit but some are too tight/shallow. Use the Uncle Mike's pocket holster. It fits better in looser fitting carpenter-style pants but it can be done!

I just tossed out all my regular fit Rustlers. :D I buy nothing, but Carpenters or Wrangler Cargos (big front pockets) now days. I really like the cargos for the extra pockets, but they don't have a watch pocket which I like having, not for a watch. Anyway, either is fine. I've been carrying my P11, but might switch back to my P64 since I tested the new springs in it yesterday. I love that thing, so friggin' accurate, not that the P11 isn't, just the new hasn't worn off the P64 I guess. :D It is flatter, about like the PF9 in size, though heavier.

Change from jeans to 511 tactical pants. Right frony pocket carry a PM9 in an Uncle Mikes and use the "knife pouch" and the other side to carry a spare mag, this leaves plenty of other pockets for your other stuff. I've daily ccw this way for over 10 years without "being made."

No, i purchased a PF-9 planning on pocket carry. but later got my hands on Ruger LCP and have been pleased. The pf-9 works but is not worth it the sights grab its too big snappy ect....still keep it my BUG out stuff though.

just because it fits in your pocket doesn't mean you should carry it there. JMHO
