Ive done ALOT to a couple of my CZ's. The latest ventures have turned out very very nice. Im looking for idea's for a CZ40 I may be getting in the future. Ive got some things in mind..and would like to hear from those who have the guns and those who tweak a little on their guns.

So far....Im thinking...

Hakan Grips..........A must!
AO sights or at least a fiber optic front sight.
Checkering the front strap.
Maybe a two tone finish...hard chrome the alloy frame.

Any input or other suggestions???????????

Shoot well.

The SIG P-220 hammer spring (17 lb.) suggested by a member of the CZ Forum. He did it and said it was a big improvement. (The DA trigger pull was the only real complaint I had with my CZ-40B.)

Oh, yeah: JR Farrar's modified firing pin -- that allows dry firing without breaking the FPB rollpin.

(Of course, the new doubled roll pin might be a better/cheaper solution, if you can get one from CZ.)

I'd replace the thumb safety with an extended one... I've seen them on Witnesses and I think they would work, at least with some modification.
Is your 9MM or .40S&W? If it's .40, maybe some porting to help control some of those hot .40 loads.
Carry Bevel job done to the frame... maybe have that (after checkering and what not) refinished in NP3 for a sexy two tone look.
Maybe have the frame cut down to Officer's length.
What throws the looks off the most is that huge rear sight.

I agree w/ George about the appendage on the slide (ie: rear sight).
Had XS Express Big Dots installed. I really like the quick aquisition and makes the gun look much smoother (yeah, I know. I'm being vain)

Would be courious about the extended safety swap or a melt job.

Any MAJOR concern w/ light hammer strikes going w/ the Sig 17# hammer spring?

The safety swap will take some gunsmithing -- as PCRCCW already knows. (He's explored this with other CZs.) The parts are not interchangeable, and the way that EAA and CZ mount the safeties are quite different, internally.

The CZ-40B only comes in .40.

Making it smaller, ala "Commander" style, would be a major task, because of the way the mainspring/hammer spring is designed and functions. (It follows the entire rear of the grip, from top to bottom.) That would take major work and a lot of experimentation. (They aren't made like Witnesses...)

I think PCRCCW might want to shoot this gun in some of the gun games he's starting to get addicted to, and I'll bet he won't consider shortening the grip (and also reducing magazine capacity) because of that. Getting mags for a shortened grip might be a problem, too.

I kinda like the sights as they are -- but XS Express sights are nice. A Colt Defender sight will fit the rear notch... don't know about the front. I like white-surround night sights -- but don't know of anybody making them for the CZ-40B at the moment.

I didn't notice recoil being bad at all with the CZ-40B. Its a very pleasant-shooting gun. (I just didn't like the trigger. Had I known about the P-220 spring swap, I would have tried that before I traded it away.)

Well great advice so far...the Extended CZ safety..ala SA or IPSC would go right on..but would have to be ambi. Ill have to throw that one around.

The checkering front and back, reshaping the beavertail and dehorning could all be done and have it NP3/Hard chromed...XS sights..although Im with Walt..I dont mind them..If I could find a fairly standard fiber optic sight for the front Id be more than happy.

Well have to get the gun and shoot it a little before I start doing too much planning. I may just love it the way it is.......................:scrutiny:

Ya....ok, Im busted. But Ill shoot it before I play with it too much. :D

Shoot well..........keep em coming.

Single action only conversion would be pretty darn cool. But then again I can't hit anything with a DA trigger so I'm biased. :)

Ashleys are awesome. PCRCCW, make sure you shoot some first though, because they are not for everybody. I love mine, and you are welcome to shoot my AO sighted guns if you want to try them out first.

Didn't MIKE say that they can't be converted> Yes, Defender nites work
well, but they are from PT:(

The 40B is cheaper than any other service sized CZs, and few
have had problems with them. Rugged and reliable, but still
a red-headed stepchild in the eyes of many CZ owners.

Colt and CZ really did their homework. Too bad the Z-40 was
DAO, and the 40B isn't offered in 9mm. The RAMI will change
that :p

The gun is pretty nice the way it is. IMO, all it really needs are better sights and some trigger work. Prettier grips help it out a lot in the looks department though.

CZF,

Where did you ge tthat pic of the RAMI? Do you have it in 800x600 of better yet 1024x768? for a backgroung on my PC. I have one for my CZ-100 and would love one of the Rami.

It is from the official brochure for the RAMI, got it from a guy in CZRep.
Sorry, that I don't have a larger pic. Do you like this one??
