The "Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure" is a new (web site says new for '24) version of the "Perfect Powder Measure".

My questions:

Does it reduce leakage? I stopped trying to use fine-dust powders like Enforcer in my PPM. It leaks huge amounts. And it leaks a little of all other powders, too.

Can I use my old PPM drums? I have many already adjusted for various powders & measures.

Not having to use the riser would be nice. One less component to come loose / adjust.

Good questions. Sounds like a quick call to Lee is in your future.

Oh, I'm sure they'll tell me it will make all of my wildest dreams come true and my reloading area will look like a 1980's beer commercial full of women in bikinis and other cool friends!

But I'd like hear from regular people who have used them. :)
Well I guess I was thinking of the does this fit or will that fit part.

But, certainly, having called them years ago on a leaking auto drum, it was all operator error problems not the product (Meaning me). Only thing I wasn't told was to reboot.

I reviewed the all metal Deluxe PPM on this thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/50-drops-lee-deluxe-perfect-powder-measure.922834/

Does it reduce leakage?
  • Due to the design of the body and drum, powder leakage is minimized.

Can I use my old PPM drums? I have many already adjusted for various powders & measures.
  • Not sure and I could look into that.

I'll bet their main Engineering Tech @LiveLife will be here shortly with the answer needed....
His response will be faster anyway................. 😁
Oh, I am not their Engineering Tech, just a customer for 30 years who does beta/product testing for a "made in USA" company which has become "customer-centric".

I made a challenge to Lee Precision via Calvin/John Lee to leave a new legacy of product innovation and design with "industrial/commercial" grade products that are "bullet proof" and this is their all metal response (Pretty good design job). And the powder measure stand is indeed "industrial/commercial" and it definitely is "bullet proof". 👍

Deluxe PPM dropped 90% of W231/HP-38 and Titegroup within .04 gr of target during 50 drop runs - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ct-powder-measure.922834/page-3#post-12751870

Made from 1/4" plate steel, new powder measure "hefty" stand is definitely "industrial/commercial" grade and "bullet proof" - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...wder-measure-stand-from-lee-precision.925017/

Spend the extra 20-30 bucks for an RCBS,Lyman or Hornady.
I decided to buy C-H 502 micrometer powder measure (has standard threads like Lee measure so I have been using it on Dillon 550) after Los Angeles Silhouette Club member conducted extensive comparison tests and C-H 502 produced lower standard deviation than most other powder measures and I did my own 10 drop tests with various powders - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/c-h-502-micrometer-powder-measure-10-drops.834894/

Lee Deluxe PPM has outmetered C-H 502 during 50 drop runs with W231/HP-38 and Titegroup with 90% of drops within .04 gr of target - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ct-powder-measure.922834/page-3#post-12751870

Looks like they are same size and functioned fine when inserted into the Deluxe PPM body.

When I inserted plastic drum from Auto Drum into Deluxe PPM body, cavity hole lines up (BTW, second hole in the plastic drum is to store additional handle)

I hope I'm not getting devices confused.

Is the Auto Drum what came with my Lee kit 3 years ago?

The Perfect Powder Measure appears to be a stand-alone device, not one that attaches to my Lee turret press.

Is the Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure stand alone, too?

I'm confused now. 😣

Yes, you are correct. Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure is a stand alone manual powder measure actuated by hand. Auto Drum is case activated powder measure used on presses. (But with that said, I have used manual hand actuated Dillon powder measure on Dillon 450 and used manual C-H powder measure on Dillon 550)

This is Deluxe PPM - Notice the manual handle

And shown mounted on stand (But due to standard threads, you could mount it on press, like C-H 502)

And Auto Drum on the right - Notice no handle

Have you tried Unique or Herco in it?

Have you tried Unique or Herco in it?
During post-Covid shortage, I gifted/PIF most of my pistol/rifle powders to those in need and to set up new reloaders with reloading press/components (Including Herco which I like for 40S&W). Only pistol powders I have currently are W231/HP-38, Promo, Titegroup and No 2.

With C-H 502, I tested Unique, Red Dot, Promo, IMR Target, W231/HP-38, Sport Pistol, Bullseye, BE-86, Clean Shot, Nobel Vectan Ba 9.5 - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/c-h-502-micrometer-powder-measure-10-drops.834894/

Here's Unique metering measurements:

Alliant Unique: Powder charge range - .24 gr
  1. 5.30 gr
  2. 5.14 gr
  3. 5.08 gr
  4. 5.32 gr
  5. 5.08 gr
  6. 5.30 gr
  7. 5.18 gr
  8. 5.12 gr
  9. 5.14 gr
  10. 5.32 gr

I made that joke on the slab before the first catheter operation. The anesthesiologist literally laughed out loud. He said. “I like your sense of humor. Now count backwards from…”. And the next thing I knew it was a day later.
I wonder if they did just reboot me? 🤨
