You know how the charity work goes. You offer to help and then it can get out of hand real fast before you know it. I am not an A5 guru. Before I start I need help with some resources. Some of you may know of more resources and please share them with me. Here is the story...
I have a neighbor that has an old Belgium made A5 that looks worse than it really is inside. Mechanically the gun looks fine and just needs a good cleaning. However, both the buttstock and forearm are split with pieces missing such that a repair is not feasable. I told him I would clean up the old shotgun and replace the wood if I could find replacements within his budget. I am not looking to make it a museum piece with expensive wood like Boyd's etc. Is there a common well known source for the A5 wood parts? I don't mind putting a finish on the new wood should I find suitable pieces.
I am not opposed to the synthetic pieces if it can make the gun work again for the owner. He is 74 and it was his grandad's gun. He is just thinking a couple hundred bucks can get it running again. I am not sure that's true. I don't want it to cost more than the gun is worth in the end. I have no such attachment to it.
Thanks for reading.
