I just bought an almost new Walther P-22 competition model at an estate sale operated by an FFL. Of course, the first thing I did with it was “fiddle for familiarization” intending to clean and lubricate it before shooting. It didn’t come with any tools, and I am spoiled by XDs and Glocks.

So far I have not even managed to field strip it, and the German flavored English of manual that I downloaded doesn’t help much. It says that the 5” barrel “competition” version requires that the stabilizer be removed as a first step. To do so, a “worm screw” is first removed from just behind the front sight. My old eyes see a tiny hole there, but I have no idea how to remove whatever it is from it. What sort of tool is required? Suggestions?

Apparently I also need to purchase an Allen wrench of some appropriate size since none came with it. I assume it is metric, do you know what size? Or do I just need to get a set any experiment?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
