An older friend of my father's has been asking me to find out about his Blackhawk. I have yet to lay hands on the gun, but he says he bought it sometime in the early to mid 70's maybe late 60's. He also says it has a serial number that is a bunch of 1's ending in 44. Any ideas about year of production, current worth or anything else of interest I can share with him are what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Dude. Sorry man, you ain't even close :).

Seriously, without a pic and knowing the caliber, we have no clue.

Barrel length & overall condition, any modifications, aftermarket grips & so on would also be helpful.

Nothing to be sorry about here. Gotta start somewhere now I just tell him if he actually cares about it he'll remember to bring it to me like he keeps forgetting to do.

With Rugers, especially OM's, there's so many variables to consider in determining value. It can come down to as much as the rifling twist on some early ones. The box itself can add a LOT depending on the model/variation. Without more info...
