So far, I've not found anyone who can tell me much about this rifle. It is a Springfield Arms, Chicopee Falls, Mass., USA. It shows .22 short, long, longrifle, single shot, bolt action. Also just in front of the receiver, on the barrel is stamped the number '21' in a circle. I believe that it gives some indication to the date of manufacture; but not certain. With the rifle taken apart, I found no other markings on or in it. Here are some pictures of the rifle before and after I refinished it. The rust was beginning to eat into the barrel and needed some TLC.

Springfield Arms was the economy brand from Stevens, right there in Chicopee Falls.
I doubt the "21" has anything to do with the date of manufacture.
Most of their rifles of the type ran from 1926 until WWII.

It looks like it cleaned up well.

Thanks, Jim. It has been 'guessed' at being similar to a model 3, 53, and 120. No one has really came up with a real answer yet. Just hoping someone might know more.
Again, thanks.
