Hi,

I hope this question is in the proper forum; if not, i'll be happy to post elsewhere if you point me in the right direction. Anyway, I have a Sako Finnwolf (VL63, discontinued lever action from the 60s and 70s) that I just purchased used of course. It has a weaver base on it. I have another finnwolf I purchased several years ago and it had the origional Sako tapered dovetail style bases on it, which I used with Leupold ringmounts. I am looking for an alternative to the weaver. The only options I have been able to find are weaver and redfield.

What I really want is either a Leupold STD Base (one or two piece) that will fit the gun, or a set of the Sako tapered dovetails to use with Leupold ringmounts for it. Leupold isn't listing anything that will fit the Finnwolf reciever. So, I'll have to find either bases made for another gun that work, or a set of origional Sako bases that will fit.

Any idea where I may be able to find the parts for either option?

Thanks!

sako rings

Sako has made rings that are one piece that slide onto the dovetail of the reciever, similar to the Ruger design .NO EXTRA BASE, they are far superior to any thing aftermarket. You should be able to find some ,they are alitte more $ than others but worth it.

hope this helps chris

Thanks for the info. However, that tapered reciever is what I am looking for. The tapered dovetail mounts are usually machined into the reciever of the guns, but not on the finnwolf. They bolt on. That is what I am looking for so that I can buy either sako rings, or leupold ringmounts for the sako.

Thanks!
