Yes they are a wealth of info. A lot depends on how old your components are. Burn rates etc MAY change over the years. The methods of measuring pressure have changed in recent years. If you have new powder, consult new manuals for instance. All I ever use the specs in the manuals for is to get the safe recommended RANGE of charge weights to get a start/stop point and develop my own loads that perform best in MY guns without any signs of excess pressure. Many times I reach max in my guns long before the book says I will.
Check to make sure powders have not change - Accurate Arms reformulated several of their powders, and recipes have changed - data for #2 from 10 years ago could be dangerous to use.
