I've had this older 1100 for a year or so. I bought it with the barrel seen in the pictures below; a 22" slug barrel.

I wanted to do something a little different with it and only enhance it's utility; perhaps use it in the HD rotation. Some time back I ran across a video (can't seem to find it, now) of a guy that was at one time a Texas state or regional 3-gun champ... and he used an older, wood-furniture 1100. His only modifications were an Easy Loader, a combat bolt handle and a magazine extension (can't remember it's capacity...).

I had a 2-shot Remington mag extension laying around not doing anything. (it was purchased to install on one of my pump guns but I discovered I prefer instead a single-shot extension on my 870s). I got the Easy Loader and the combat bolt handle from Brownell's.

All I need to do now is (more) BA/UU/R then maybe one day next spring I might check out some 3-gun matches, but just for fun. I have no AR, only lever carbines for that sort of thing. Hahaha... guess I'd need a sling, too.

Very cool. His YouTube handle is NicTaylor00 and it was a +4 extension. I'm going to do mine similarly. Mine is a magnum but I bought a 2 3/4" barrel so it will run on bulk federal.

Here's his video for any interested. Any input/tips on installing the easy loader welcome.

Thanks for the link, 1K. I've not seen that one.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. Older? I didn't say "ancient"! Hahaha... I used the term only to differentiate it from anything from the modern, tacticool school.

There are decent if brief instructions in the Easy Loader packaging. Have some small files, proper-sized pin punches (1/16", and have handy a 1/16" twist drill bit to serve for your test-fitting as you file) and some cold blue. You will scratch your carrier. Triple-check the action release tab engagement; you will have to fine-tune that with a file, also. Remove as little material as possible. It's hard to put it back. My install, though tedious, turned out well. *phew*

If one plans to shoot heavy 2-3/4" loads in a 2-3/4" barrel on a Magnum receiver, they should keep an eye on the buffer. Those 2 gas ports can get that Magnum action sleeve moving quite fast.

Will do.

Refresh my memory... the 12 ga buffer is in the bolt, but the smaller caliber shotguns have the buffer installed in the rear of the receiver?

Thanks, Virginian!

Thanks, I will.

BTW does anyone convert 3" barrels to shoot 2 3/4"? Seems like you'd just need to drill another port. Is it doable? I have no need for a 3" 1100 really. And I still have the ribbed 28" full choke 3" barrel. Thinking of sending it to someone to cut/thread for chokes and maybe drill another hole.
