I was talking with a buddy today and as the conversation unfolded he recalled a small shop in town that used to carry reloading components. It's in an out of the way and bad part of town so we never really think of them. He called over there and they said they had a few thousand primers.
We immediately jumped in the truck and went. When we got there my buddy started walking toward the back of the store where they keep the reloading stuff. As we walked deeper into the store a golden light began to glow...closer we got and the golden glow became heavenly beams of sunshine casting down upon the reloading section. Angels floated above us and played harps and horns and tiny guitars (NOT ukeleles...they were GUITARS...just tiny ones) as we gazed upon the inventory.
They had not "a few thousand" primers...they had MANY thousand primers in all flavors. Small and large, rifle and pistol, Winchester, Remington, CCI, Wolf, you name it and it was there.
They had enough gunpowder for a pirate ship. I could...not...believe...my eyes.
They had just about everything. I was shocked.
We bought our supplies and had to resist the urge to take it all. After we calmed down we bought what we thought we needed, made sure we left a lot of primers on the shelf and went to check out. I was about to take a brick of small pistol and I asked the guy next to me if he wanted any...just wanted to make sure I wasn't taking something he needed or wanted...told him I'd be happy to split them with him. He said no and I finished up and went up front.
It was great.
As a funny/strange/sad aside...as I was checking out a dude walked up from way in the back and stared slack-jawed at my box. He was just standing and staring. I told him to spit it out...say it whatever it was that he had on his mind.
He said he needed small pistol primers and he had just called and they said they had some etc. I told him I had left plenty of small pistol primers on the shelf...there were literally thousands of Wolf primes sitting there.
He said he didn't want Wolf primers...he was hoping for something better. I about laughed when he said it...no big deal I told him...I'd sell him some of the ones I just bought...at the same price I just paid...how many do you want?
He got 200 from us and we all talked for a while. I found it funny after the fact that the guy would come up to me asking me for primers I just bought when there were Wolf primers sitting right there on the shelf. People continue to amaze me.
They still have a metric butt ton of primers and powder...don't know how they get their supplies or if those have been sitting there the entire time. Heck they even had bullets and brass...you could have walked into that store today and picked up reloading as a hobby and had everything you needed on hand...THAT is a heckuva thing in this market.
