Small children are not strong enough to rack the slide on a semi-auto pistol. Even my ten year-old cannot rack the slide on my XD-40.

Don't bet on it. My youngest , when 5, could rack almost anything. If I was dry-firing, for example, she would hold out her hand for the pistol. rack and check it, then return it.

"Whats' the the matter, honey, don't you trust me?"

"Yes , I trust you Daddy, but I didn't check it."

Again, folks, thanks for the replies.

My relocation plans are shaping up. I expect to be vacationing for a bit in Orange County (and possibly San Diego) before starting work in the Bay Area.

As such, any recommendations on gun stores and/or ranges in the Orange County Area? I want to start the process of seeing what might suit me best...oh, and pick up some OC spray in the interim.
