I need a new gun and the Uberti Stallion in .38 seems like a nice choice. But I need some convincing. Does anyone have one and can give me an idea of what they're like? I love single actions and would like something that doesnt break the bank like .45 LC can do (I dont reload).

I have a .45 SAA 4 3/4" made by Aldo Uberti. I and the range owner who FFL'd the revolver were amazed at the quality. Well finished, well timed, nice trigger. I compare it to my 2nd generation Colt SAA and there is very little difference. The Colt however is all steel where the Uberti has some alloy parts; I'm told the backstrap is alluminum alloy. I bought this from a company in CA named, I think, EMF, cost including sales tax, FFL and shipping was less than $300. Hope this helps.

Vaquero's come in .357. If you don't intend reloading, you can shoot .38 Specials. However, if you ever intend using .357 mag ammo you'll have to give the cylinders a good cleaning before you do. Using .38 brass in a .357 gums them up with bullet lube gunk. No big deal though.

I should mention my liking for this particular piece came from the fact that it is lighter than a typical .357 and comes in single action only, which is the most natural feeling for me.

Would the fact that it is an aluminum alloy change durability in any way? I (obviously) like to think my guns will be with me for quite some time, so longevity is a major plus.
