Once in a lifetime at the range today

I hate it when that happens on the first shot! Might as well pack up and go home 'cause I know it's nothing but downhill from there.....:evil:

I shot 25 clean at skeet with the guys from work. We all went to the clubhouse and then I made a lame excuse and left. It wasn't going to get any better...

The best thing about that shot was that it hooked a new shooter. That deserves an "atta boy" for sure. Good job.

When I used to work at a range - we had multiple sets of 8" steel falling plates. When the matches were over - my buddy and I would back off to 100 yds and shoot them with our .357's with .38 Specials. He had a 6" barrel L Frame and I a 4" barrel K Frame. We got pretty good at dinging plates at 100yds and would usually draw a crowd from the clubhouse when they started hearing "Pop...........Ding" "Pop..........Ding" LOL I could pretty regular hit 3 or 4 out of 6 rounds....

I also hit 24 of 25 shooting clay targets off the back of a cruise ship once. With a junk 20 ga they provided. The activities guy was pretty impressed - as were the 5 other guys I beat. Prize was like a $25 drink coupon...LOL

Sooner or later if you shoot enough you will get your equivalent of a golf eagle or hole in one shooting. I hit golf balls at 100 yards using a Marlin 60 and a 3/4 tube scope. My wildest shot was hitting a crow at 400 yards with a 22-250.

OP: Great shot. Great way to create a new enthusiast!

I had a CZ 550 American in 6.5x55SM that was a great shooter. One day I decided to put my Weaver 40x target scope on it to test fire groups at 200 yards using the big, square "Shoot 'N See" targets. After firing 10 rounds or so at 100 yards and zeroing the scope about 1-3/4" high, I took the target frame out to 100 yards and set a new target. I fired the first round and looked for splatter hole to no avail though the red diamond center looked like it might have been discolored, but I couldn't tell for sure. Through the spotting scope, I looked all around the target and could find no hole. I spent several minutes looking for a problem with the scope and mounts but found nothing. I walked down range to find the bullet had gone dead center in the little red diamond and left all four of the red points and edges untouched! I still have that target at my loading bench. :)
