I'm planning a 50th birthday treat for myself in the form of a trip from my home in Scotland to the biketoberfest in Daytona and while I'm there I'd like to get some shooting practice so where would you suggest the best place to get a hotel is given that I intend to both some serious partying and serious shooting so driving would need to be kept at a minimum Ideally near to the nightlife but on a straight road to somewhere I can rent firearms ( any tips and recommendations welcome)

If you're not a US resident you'll something like a hunters certificate in order to use a shooting range. We had to get one for a French exchange student here.

Are you flying in to anywhere in particular? I'm pretty sure the road that connects Scotland and Daytona has a bridge out or something. The US is pretty big.

Just don't do both at the same time lol

Are you taking the "Long Way Round"?

I'm not much of a drinker, but I can definitely recommend bringing your most breathable riding gear you have, and the ride down to the keys is decent, but for an international tourer, I'm not sure I'd say that you "have to go". It's interesting but not really representative of America, and it's about as straight as you can get if you're looking for a twisty road. If you have the time, riding up to the tail of the dragon would make for better riding experience after/before daytona.

Drink & guns and definitely don't mix especially as you guys drive on the wrong side of the road for me. I'm not sure if theres rental bikes to be had, most likely it will be four wheels and just enjoy the atmosphere, probably fly into Orlando

I have been to Daytona BW many times and do not recall any shooting ranges in the city....For a good nightlife get a room as close to Main Street as possible. Main is pretty much nothing but biker bars from end to end.

Thanks, will start to firm up plans, depending on cost and time I might even take a class at one of the shooting schools in the state

Motorcycle rentals are generally easy to find in larger cities, so I assume you would be able to rent in Orlando. I also don't think it should be much trouble for you to be able to shoot at a range. Have fun.
