Ok guys I am about to go out and buy a Dan Wesson Bobtail Commander.......but before I do.......

Are there any other .45 platforms you all suggest? I dont like glocks and I want to carry IWB so I need a thin gun......and want it to be .45

So what else is out there......Kahr P45, Sig 220, Taurus 145 and 745......what else?

So what other polymer or metal guns in .45 that you guys carry IWB that are thin and maybe lighter than a 1911......

Thanks Guys
Josh

I rented an XD 45 last week - I have had zero interest in XDs before - but after renting an HK USP 45 and an M&P 45 - I had a few 45 rounds left over. So, I tried the XD.

Wow. I was super impressed. I plan to rent it 1 more time. If I shoot with it just as well again, I will b ebuying one.

Check out the XD 45.

I will also consider a single stack or thin 9MM if someone can make a strong ballistic comparison between 45ACP and the 9MM round.....that should open the field up some

Have you looked at the S&W1911PD with the Scandium frame? I have the one with the CT Laser grips. Very nice and lighter than all steel.

OTOH I think the DW bobtail is very cool, as are the Ed Brown bobtail commanders.

I carry a Colt 1991A1 Compact. It's more or less an officer's model. Lighter and smaller than a full size. It's a little bigger than a Walther PPK/S.

Why not use some +P 9mm rounds like Gold Dots or similar? For a thin, non-pocket size 9mm, I'd look at the new Walther PPS.

Enjoy your new CBOB! Once I got mine, I kinda neglected the other guns in my collection...at least now I'm redisocvering them :D

I am very interested suddenly in the Taurus PT145 it's 1.25 inches thick and pretty small in all other dimensions......and is light with a 10+1 capacity....and pretty affordable also, seems like most people have good luck with them? anyone have any input on this? Will the added thickness make the PT that much harder to conceal IWB with jeans and a t-shirt untucked?

Sorry... there is no comparison - strong or otherwise - between the .45ACP and the 9mm. Assuming you are carrying for self defense, the ability of the .45 to STOP is considerably greater than that of the 9mm. Shot placement does come into play on all SD shots.
