One rifle only.

If not an AR, I would say a Mossberg 590. Very hard to beat the versatility of a reliable pump gun, the only drawbacks I can think of opposed to an AR is capacity, speed, range and they are a lil cumbersome to shoot and reload if you don't practice regularly and alot. A skilled shotgunner against an unskilled opponent with an AR15 is at a considerable disadvantage imo but that's only one unlikely defensive aspect of the "one do all rifle" theme. For everything else I think they'd be a great choice for a 1 gun to rul them all scenario

love how it gently pick up bolling pins .... and SLAMS them to the ground, lol
Oh that is so funny, I just got done fine tuning my M44 with light and heavy loads for duty as a trunk gun. I started a post about it, and two other bolt guns also in the "trunk gun" category, but the post was deleted, due to it's proximity to forbidden subjects. I approve your message. It is one of my favorite Ugly Sticks. And indeed, it will do just about anything. I could be happy, with the M44 being my "one gun".

Didn't we just do this?

Yes. But when has that ever stopped us before?

If I had to pick one rifle to do it all hunting, all the defenses, etc. I would pick an AR-10 build in 308 and throw a suppressor on it. Balance out ammo capacity and range without restrictions.

I have already done this years ago. If I could have only one rifle it would be my lever action Marlin 30-30. As long as I have my reloading kit I can make it do almost all I want a rifle for. I can load round balls for small game or use the 32 caliber pistol bullets I cast as small game loads and of course full power loads good enough for Moose hunting as long as I watch the range. I have a thousand pieces of brass and a 170gr bullet mold plus over a thousand jacketed bullets on hand. Its the most versatile rifle
own. If I could add a shotgun to the mix I would have all I really need.

How about .30-30 over a 20 gauge barrel? Savage 24-V.

Life is far too short to have only one rifle. But I guess my 30-06 would probably get the job. I'd rather have a 22, some kind of 6mm, and a 30 caliber. That's about all a guy really needs; thank God "need" has nothing to do with this hobby!
