I have too many handgun interests to bother with the thought of ONE handgun. Hell, I have six or eight or something concealment choices, 4 in my main rotation. I own a Contender with 4 different barrels for squirrel to deer/hogs, even IHMSA for a while. I own cap and ball revolvers for fun. I ain't owning ONE handgun. I don't live in California, so I don't have to worry about stupid laws getting passed in my state, for now at least.

The Perfect Packin' Pistol is a journey not a destination, It should be easy carrying, have enough power to deal with the things that need to be delt with and accurate enough to reach out 50 yards or better. I've spent a lifetime collecting guns that fulfill these requirements. I've got a bunch don't really have a single favorite. to my mind a 4-5" auto, 3-4" DA revolver or a 4 or 4 5/8" SA revolvers all fit the bill well as for caliber 357mag and about anything that starts with a 4 is ok for me, I'll give an honerable mention to 38 super as long as I can reload as I have a nice 150 gr LSWC load thats real close to 1200fps that'll do.

3", round butt, K frame, .357. Oh, that Model 13-3 in my safe. Concealment on the belt is easy - I've open carried it and had people not see it, powerful enough to do most anything I'm likely to need in a handgun, small and light enough on a good belt to get carried most of the time.

But I mostly carry my 642. If restricted to one, it would be one of those two.

But when I did only own one pistol, it was my Ruger MKII .22LR, since I couldn't afford to shoot a centerfire enough then to justify paying for one.

And I'm with Mcgunner. I don't live in California, I don't have to register my guns, and the only person I have to justify getting what I want to really likes me a lot, so she usually doesn't fuss too much since I go to work every day and pay the bills every month.
