If choosing to conceal carry, if the holstered gun becomes visible, are you considered in compliance with open carry requirements?

If you have a license and are carrying the gun in a belt or shoulder holster then it is legal regardless of whether or not the gun is visible.

If you are NOT carrying in a belt or shoulder holster then the gun MUST remain concealed to be legal.

IF you have a Texas weapons license, yes.
You're either carrying openly (legal with license) or you're carrying concealed (again, legal with a license).

Of course, inadvertently allowing a pistol to become visible was made a non-criminal offense in TX law even before this newest version.

Many thanks for your replies.

Not sure if I want to blatantly open carry, but besides the XDs 9, most of my other pistols like to show some of their parts if not wearing a long enough shirt or jacket and using a belt holster.

My choice to carry open or concealed is based on my impression of the people around me. In urban areas, while being legal to open carry... it presents a condition of unrest to those around me.. when IM carrying up State where open carry is very much accepted as a way of life, I will carry open on occasion.
If more public acceptance of open carry was in play, I feel the State wo9uold be a better place to live... example, if 90 % of the patrons in a restaurant open carried chances would be slimmer that some dirt bag would try anything.

open carry in places where others do not, would put you at risk to be one of the first [people to be take out in the event of a planed robbery, where the bad guys were career criminals with no concern for killing someone.
