well, i think so anyways.

Ive had a pretty crappy year health wise and have been in a lot of doctor offices.

I heard it on the Tom Gresham radio show where they bring their old and read gun magazines and leave them at doctor's offices waiting rooms or auto repair shops... places where you are typically in a "waiting room"

about 6 months ago i brought 3 mag's... 1 American rifleman, 1 handguns and 1 guns and ammo to my neurologist's office and placed them in 3 different spots as i waited.

I went back today and sure enough, all 3 are still there and appear to be quite heavily handled :D

So, if you don't do this or haven't heard about it.... try it! It is the perfect thing to do with old magazines and getting everyday people more familiar with firearms.

Anyone else do this?

I've been thinking about doing this for a while. I'm considering buying my Physical Therapists office a Dillion Blue Press subscription for Christmas.

Sorry to hear that you're spending so much time in the clinics. Hope you get better.

I've been doing this for several years, at MD's offices, Dentist offices, Jiffy Lubes, and, my work place...

The dentist office got their own subscriptions to them, the MD's office must've thrown them out, the guy at Jiffy Lube took them behind the counter and started reading them, and the firehouse? They ended up in the third stall in the locker room - typically reserved for old porn mags...

Not a thread hijack but......

I send my old gun catalogs and magazines to those stationed in the sandbox.

I use a USPS APO Flat Rate box and it only cost about $12.

i love this idea! i think i need to thin out the heard over here and send 1/2 to iraq and 1/2 to the local high school library

I've heard of this and really should get onboard.

After all, it is a lot easier than procuring a batch of FP45 Liberators and saturating an area with them.

The 'net has driven me away from the subscription gun rags, what's a good one for a reasonable price these days?

That's a great form of Activism in the culture war we find ourselves in.

Give more people more chances to see our side as just another part of everyday life.

I like it! I've got an eye doctor appointment coming up and a stack of old American Riflemans on the shelf, I'll grab a few and spread the joy. This is an excellent idea that takes no extra time and very little effort.

I live in Texas...there's already hunting mags at the doctors offices!

I've had an extensive travel itinerary over this past year and I made it a habit to leave two or three at random airports.

Figured if I could "only make one mans day better" then it was all worth it!

That is a good idea. By the way both of my civilian doctors shoot. I have not had luck leaving them at the V.A. though, they seem to hit the trash pretty quick.

I don't think these particular 'rags' are published anymore, but whenever i would see Rosie O's or Mz Oprah's magazines on display, i always hid them behind a copy of Combat Handguns or Guns-n-Ammo, etc... :D :D

I would love to try that, but here in Montana I've yet to come across a waiting room without gun magazines already there! :D

I have several years of Guns & Ammo sitting in a box. I guess its time to start sowing seeds with the masses. Goodbye old magazines!

When my SIL, recently retired, was in the navy and at sea on one or the other of our carriers (he rotated aroung several of them) I would send him all my gun magazines as well as some I picked out at the news stands. I understand he was one of the best liked sailors on the ship, I like to think it was because of the magazines. :)

I found some magazines this morning in my room. I think I'll send them overseas. Where exactly do I ship them too?

This is a really great idea. I had a similar thought the other day when I was in a Tire Discounters. We need to get into this: it's easy.

I didnt read the whole thread so sorry if its been posted....

Send them to the closest USO....I like reading them while waiting for a flight overseas....and Im sure all the other GI's do too.

Or alternatively the nearest VA hospital.

:)

Someone else hit on one of my pet peeves. With the exception of my dentist, who is an avid shotgunner, I never get to read any Gun mags while in the waiting rooms. The closest I get is an old copy of Popular Mechanics, which isn't too bad but not what I'd like to be reading.

The last time I saw the doc for my shoulder the clinic sent me an evaluation score sheet. I mentioned the lack of ANY magazine that had any appeal to men with a measurable testosterone level and told them to get some hunting/gun magazines in the waiting area. I haven't been back since so I don't know if it will have any effect, but at least I made myself feel better.

For my own collection of gun magazines, I keep the ones with any relevant articles and leave the rest on the table for the kids I teach Hunter Safety to.
