I have a nice Surefire X200 I picked up for cheap and it fits easily on all my pistols except my 1911s. My 1911s don't have rails so the flashlight really doesn't fit at all. I seen some rails that require drilling to the frame and that turns me off period. Two mounts have caught my eye as they do not permanently attach and they seem to just clamp on the trigger guard. Does anyone have experience with these types of mounts? Would love to know how easily they attach and how tough the mounts are. Pictures of your setup would be nice too.

Here are the links to mounts I am eyeing.

CAA 1911 rail

I like the look of the Surefire MR07 better. It like like it would hold better

how about a fleshlight rail?
1911: Not for use for the other use.
Your attacker would pass out from confusion.
you just ain't right in the head:scrutiny:

I don't think a flashlight rail fits into the description:

Everything you need, and nothing you don't.

Just my opinion.

It is a fact that a flashlight is the best thing to have on your nightsatnd gun. I know alot of people don't like that fact but it is true, especially if you don't live alone. I wasn't asking opinions on whether I should have one or not just which rail adapter is the best for a 1911.

Surefire does make nice stuff but I have no experience with their 1911 rail. Their forearm light is the cat's meow on my shotgun though.

I can't comment on either of those b/c I dont have them. However, I do wish I would have went that route instead of having the Novak rail fitted to the frame of my RIA tactical. I have now decided I don't want it on there but cant get it off w/o possibly seriously damaging the frame.

I would go with the Surefire. I looked at the CAA before I had mine installed and did not care for it.

I would think either mount is going to jack up the finish on your 1911. The surefire version looks like it has a set screw that you crank down against the trigger guard. On the CAA version I can't tell. I think I would use the light on one of the other guns you already own that has rails. Mark

Well due to the lack of information on each rail from end users, I think I will keep my 1911s railless. Thanks for the input but I don't want to take the chance of unnecessarily messing up my 1911s' finish or spending unnecessary bucks. I still look forward to actually hearing from anyone who has owned one of these rails if anyone is out there.
