Opinions of the Taurus G3, please

OP,

I've heard great things about them. I haven't handled the G3's, but have with the G2's, and they seemed like good value and decent quality. Is it a Wilson Combat or a Smith Performance Center? Nope, but no one expects it to be. As a regular consumer, I would not worry about purchasing one.

Other good striker alternatives are the Stoeger STR, IWI Masada, Canik TP9 series.

Other good hammer alternatives are all the Turkish clones, be it Girsan, Sarsilmaz, Canik, etc.

A good DA alternative is the Ruger Security 9.

Good luck with your purchase!

^ actually a fair point (responding to post # 23)

Seems every thread mentioning "Taurus" turns into a discussion about its customer service, rather than its products -- most of which are serving its actual customers quite well.

Not sure why some folks are so consistently compelled to rise up and bash certain brands, particularly when they cannot document anything other than
So he got a new slide -- after 4 to 5000 rounds fired -- from the company, but immediately traded the pistol off ... An alleged crack in the slide of another pistol after 3K rounds, but he traded that one off too ... All righty then ... Well, at least this guy claims personal experience (usually it's just a brother, cousin, uncle or buddy when they have a problem with a specific company's guns).

Many of what I like to call the "Taurus tales" that I've read and heard over the years just don't ring true.

Taurus seems to be the victim of a lot of people who have a "pile on" mentality. In the old west, they'd be part of a lynch mob.

Personally, I don't like this type of person.
