I don't exactly consider them rifles, but they are even less a pistol. I want a 9mm carbine and already have a Px4 Storm. I don't think the Beretta Cx4 is worth $6-700.00, but it would match my pistol. I keep hearing people saying good things about the Kel-Tec. I looked at one and things just don't get "cheaper" looking. They make an AK47 look like a Weatherby bolt as far as quality, but they are so $$$ cheap and do accept my Beretta 92 mags...may even take the Px4 mags, I assume. I could buy 2 for the price of a Beretta Cx4. The fact that the Kel-Tec folds is an interesting feature...saves on a carrying case(ha-ha) and would allow me to purchase more ammo stock. The Beretta may, or may not, be longer lasting and better functionally...it's definitely better build quality and better attention to details in its appearance...takes a lot of tactical addon crap, but I don't see that as an advantage. What would the majority of you guys do? I'm definitely trying to focus on 9mm as a caliber just because of my other guns and the expected future availability of ammo from most anywhere. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts...thanks in advance folks!

I have a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in 9MM. It's great. I had a CX4 Storm and it is a fine little Carbine, but I sold it and ordered the new RRA 9MM AR 15 with the Integral Magwell. It will be a while before they sgip though. :(

The 9MM is great in a carbine!

I have personally witnessed a storm jam on more than one ocasion. Im just puting it out there. Keltec is gunna be a lot cheeper.

I picked up a 9mm carbine as a range toy and to shoot matches where only pistol calibers are allowed.

I had a Ruger PC9, which was ok.

Sold it and bought a NIB Vector Uzi for $620. Very simple, very well made, mags (new in wrapper 32 or 25 round) can be had for $12 each. Mine is accurate enough to hit a gong (12") at 200 yards without too much drama.

Very happy with the Vector Uzi in general. I had 2 minor problems that were fixed by Vector on the 1st phone call.

I've got a Marlin Camp 9 Carbine. The Marlin Camp 9 and 45, and the Ruger carbines are only available used. It works and is high quality, and it takes S&W 59 series mags (the .45 version takes 1911 mags). The Marlins are going for $400+ in good condition, so they are a bit more expensive. You can get a folder or a cheapo bullpup stock for them, so for compact storage, that would work.

It works well, and is accurate. A decent alternative for recoil sensitive people for an HD or truck gun. Not the best choice, but will work out to a hundred yards, and gives better killing performance than a .22 for not much more recoil.

if you want to go cheap but still very good, go with a hi-point 995 and drop the aftermark stock on it, i had the chance of shooting one last thrusday at the range and they are fun...but it didn't had the ATI stock

I have the Hi Point carbine and the Sub 2000 (Beretta version), both have 1000s of rounds through them. I have had maybe three FTF with the sub all related to magazine issues. Mine will hit 16oz soda bottles all day at 100 yards, minute of milk jug at 200 yards with practice. Save your money for ammo and get the Sub.

I read a few articles on the Hi Point and they mention < $150...I'm not seeing any at that price. Also saw a mention of $89 for the Advanced Technology stock...haven't researched yet. Maybe I should drive to Atlanta and check a gunshow tomorrow? Does the Hi Point take a proprietary mag, or can you get them that accept Beretta mags? The thing is, I have Beretta stuff coming out the wazooski, but just don't see their carbine commanding $600+...that's just ridiculous.

Go for the Hi-Point or a Marlin Camp 9. They are fine rifles. The Hi-Point has a clunky looking stock but it shoots just fine. Spend your money on ammo and leave the factory stock.

These guns have some of the best sights i have used. The rear peep matches the front globe. Just put the target on top of the post and fire. Instant hit.

I also have a Camp 9 and think it is one of the best guns i own. I can't imagine a better home defense firearm. I have several 20 round mags and a couple of 14 rounders and feel well protected with this gun.

I paid $286 from GB for the Marlin and $180+tax for the Hi-Point. The Hi-Point takes it own mag. The Marlin takes S&W 59 mags. There is a 15 round mag for the Hi-Point.

Proprietary Hipoint mags. Stay away from the Promag 15 rounders.

Well, the Beretta name (like Colt, HK, and Benelli) might be the reason for the high price. I'm certainly of the opinion that it isn't worth the high price, no matter what the factors are that drive up the price. The interchangeble magwell is kind of nice, though.

Ive got a CX4 in 9mm and love it to death, it was high priced but with the 2 or 3 thousand rounds through mine, ive yet to have any problems ( ive been running 115grain FMJs and maybe 200 147grain HP's) the gun is way more accurate than i expected and is a very quick and natural pointer for me

i have a sub 2000 beretta version.

it's lots of fun with the cheapo 30 round mags, very accurate once i got used to the cheap (to me) sights, and has been reliable with all ammo except blazer aluminum.

kel tec says don't use blazer for a reason. i tried it to see why and spent about 1/2 hour getting little chunks of aluminum out of the gun.:banghead:

if you get one, i recommend getting the stock extension if you're over 5'8", and putting some kind of recoil pad on it. once you shoot it, you'll run through a lot of rounds and your shoulder will end up with a bruise.
