Opinions on HK P2000 in .40

Took the S.O. to the local "Toy Store" yesterday to try out a new pistol for her. I want to upgrade her from her G26 to a .40 and a newer gun.
After many handlings, she decided on the HK P2000.
I had a USP45 in the past but am not much of an HK person.

Any comments, good or bad?

Thanks

I've got an H&K P2000 .40 DA/SA with decocker... Very accurate gun and has been flawless so far with about 500-600 rds through it...
Not much recoil for a compact gun but I will say that the grip may be to big for a woman....

I have medium sized hands and I have installed the smallest back strap and it still seems a little bulky...

I would also like to add that this gun is built like a tank!!! and very easy to field strip...(out of all my guns, its the easiest)...drf

Got to try it out.

Suggest you go to your local range and rent one of those babies. I like my HK compact .40 so much that I bought myself a second one. Those are my home and car guns...100% reliable and accurate to boot.

Having said that you and your S.O. need to go and shoot it...that is the final decision, right? Renting it and bringing a box of ammo to shoot tells you a lot.

You know how it goes, what is good for me may not be good for you or your S.O..

It cost me a little more, but now my wife is happy with what she has and won't trade it or sell it for the world. Her confidence in her gun is all that matters because now she carries it all the time.

Whole purpose of having your handgun by your side, right?

I haven't shot the P2000 yet, but I have shot (...and own) a few of the USPs & I do ID myself as an HK fan. I don't see how she could go wrong w/ an HK ;)

One of the best features about the USP line (and P2000) is the recoil redution system. Makes shooting even the hottest rounds a breeze. Some of my best groups ever came out of a box stock USPc .40.

I'd buy one if I had the spare change. If HK would chamber a USP in 10mm, I'd finance it and worry about paying it off later. The full size models would definitely handle the stout 10mm. Why they don't make it is beyond me. Perhaps Bar-Sto could make a barrel in 10mm for a USP40... The gun is rated to take +p+ from the factory, even in .45 models.
