I know it is popular to speak wistfully of the Six Series. They are great revolvers…I had a four inch stainless that shot very nicely.
But I have to say, I much prefer the 3” GP I own today…I shoot it better, too.
All I have to add is that I too am a fan of the Speed Six, the Security Six and the Service Six. They're all terrific revolvers, and there's a reason they're so scarce (for good specimens) on the used market.
The Six series of Rugers are probably my favorite revolvers. Years ago I got on a kick of buying every configuration I could find and put together a sizable collection. I haven't shot them in years but i can't bear the thought of selling or trading them away.
Same here.I have a Security Six and a Speed Six and have fired neither of them in way over a decade but they'll be with me till I'm gone. They're way better than money in the bank which becomes worth less as time passes.
My first was a 1987 GS-83 NYCPD DAO Speed Six 38spl, then 1980 2 3/4" Speed Six 357 followed by 1987 NYCPD DAO Service Six 38spl and a 1979 2 3/4" Security Six 357. My favorites are the Speed Sixes. I enjoy them as much as any revolvers I own.
Another Ruger fanboy here. I have several Ruger revolvers including a 2-3/4" and a 4" Security Six. Like others have said, they're built like little tanks and are some of the best double action revolvers that Ruger has ever made, definitely my favorites of the group.
