I'm looking at the Savage 16 FSS in .204 Ruger as a coyote rifle. Everybody around here raves about the accutrigger, but a few guys have expressed reservations about the synthetic stock on this model. Their thought is that it is too flexible, leading to poor accuracy. They are happy with their Savages, but their experience is with laminated stock, heavy barreled varminters.

Anybody have experience with this model, or one using a similar stock? Getting good accuracy? Had any problems? Is the stock as flexible as these guys think it is?

the stock is not a prob, if you make sure you don't use more than , say, 10 lbs torque when tightening action screws, and put you a little pressure pad up front, under the bbl , above the stock tip.

I have limited experiences w/ the Savages. I have shot a few rounds from an older (pre-accutrigger) versioned heavy barrel. For what my buddy paid & the kind of accuracy I've seen this thing shoot, I think they make some nice stuff! ;)

I own two Savages. .223 and a .308. The .308 has the tupperware stock, the .223 rests in a Stockade stock. In .204 I would not worry about the stock. Later you may want to swap out to a better stock, such as the laminate factory stocks.
