Opinions on what to get for under $450 (Updated w/pic of purchase)

Gun show is in town this weekend and I have approx. $450 for another semi-auto to add to the collection. I currently have the following:

CZ52
Makarov
TT33
Kel Tec P32
4 inch and 5 inch 1911's
Taurus Mil Pro PT145
Walther PP
Khar P9
Ruger MKII

I was thinking of either a 4 inch XD9, Ruger 345 or maybe a Taurus 24/7. What else is out there in the same price range or less for new or used?

Everyone should have at least one revolver ;)

Having said that, I would get a Tanfoglio Witness in 10 mm or a Glock 20 in 10mm. Have you ever thought about getting a 10mm? ;)

I started out with wheelguns and have more of them than I do auto's.

Since I reload, a 10MM might be interesting in the Witness.

I love My XD-9 thus far. Good pistol.

But I'm with Fumbler on the Revolver suggestion.
You could get a Ruger GP-100 or SP-101 for that kind of money.
Perhaps a single action.

My GP-100 has been a solid performer. I can't say anything bad about it.
So has My Vaquero. Those Rugers are built like tanks. I've noticed that most S&W wheelguns have better out-of-box triggers. But after I put four hundred rounds through the GP-100, it shaped up nicely. Then again, the GP-100's trigger was'nt bad to begin with. I am considering a SP-101 in the near future by the way... :D

Good luck in finding a 10mm witness at the Portland gun show. I've been looking at all the gun shops in the vicinity for months. The only place I've seen them is on 'Gunbroker.com". If you want a good semi auto get a CZ75, they'll be available in 9mm and .40 S&W. Good hunting. Maybe I'll see you there.

Why are you eliminating the chance of owning a fine revolver? Either practical/utilitarian or examples that are just gorgeous to look at. Your inventory is certainly impressive, but revolvers have a certain character that cannot be found in semi-autos.

They are worth a look.....

He does have wheelguns, he just didn't say he did in his first post.

I think a new gun in a caliber that you don't have would fun.

I have a 10mm Witness, it's a fun little gun. Of course by little, I mean BIG. If you reload, 10mm can be a LOT of fun. A 220 gr. LTC moving at 1200 fps knocks down bowling pins with serious authority. And with the AWB expiration, you can now find 15 round 10mm Witness magazines!

If you shop around, $450 just might get you a 10mm Witness, a set of dies, and a couple of 15 rnd mags.

I guess I should have posted this on the revolver forum and gotten the auto replies :) .

Here is the list for what I currently own in revolvers:

Nagant
Ruger GP100
Ruger Super Redhawk .480
Ruger Vaq .44 MAG
Taurus 627
Taurus 85
S&W 637
S&W 640-1
S&W 66
S&W 317 Kit Gun

The problem is I have an itch but not sure how to scratch it. Other than I want to play around with another auto.

Are they just rumors or have there been frame weakness issues with the Witness in 10MM?

I don't know much about gun shows, but pick up the new CDNN catalog... all kinds of sweet guns in there for less than $450.

I shoot around 50-100 full power 10mm loads a month in my Witness -- hasn't blown up on me yet :D And I don't expect it to. I do use a heavy aftermarket recoil spring. If the G20's plastic frame can take the stress, I'm sure the Witness's heavy all steel frame is up to it.

10mm or a wheelgun.

10mm, local dealer can get me the Witness full size in wonder finish for $350.

I've got a Taurus 455HS4 from CDNN for $349.99. Titanium, 4" barrel, 5 shot, 45 ACP, +P rated, fixed sights, moon clips. It's going to be one of my CCW pieces. They have stainless 2", 4", and 6" versions with adj sights for $300. You already have a couple 45 ACPs and this would be a cost effective way to add one more and get something a little unusual. The Ti model has been discontinued so the price is starting to go up (last catalog it was only $300 but I wasn't shopping for one then :( )

I'm not sure anyone here is paying attention to your posts.

How about a new or slightly used CZ 97B?

You have too many already, send some to me. Seriously take the 450 and a couple guns you don't shoot and buy something really nice. Or buy a glock.

Black Majik you win the door prize!!

How about a SIG 245. Slightly used (LNIB) and 2 mag's for $425. Did not see any Witness 10MM's and I came close to getting the CZ PO1 but I just could not resist the pull of another .45 ACP. Time to see if it can give my Kimber and Taurus a run for the money.

Steelhead,

Where is the show at this weekend? Do you know what the hours are?

I need to pick up some more ammo for my rifles.

I.G.B.

itgoesboom,

The show is at the Expo center down by PIR and Delta Park.

Here are the hours. Show a Bi-mart card and get a discount on admission.

Show Hours
Friday 11/19 12pm - 7pm
Saturday 11/20 9am - 6pm
Sunday 11/21 9am - 4pm

nice choice for a new gun.

I have a Sig 228 and would love to have a single stacked Sig. A 220 or if I could find one a 245 would be nice.

That's a pretty good price too.
