Tomorrow I should be getting in a B Square rail for my 6 1/2" Taurus, Model 44SS, and I have a couple of choices in optics at the same gun shop. I'm looking for something that would be a 'best buy' since I'm not looking to spend a ton of money and need something reasonably good and dependable. The purpose in buying this pistol is for use on deer out to 50 - 75 yards, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to a couple of red dots:
So far I see virtually no reviews on the Konus, and pretty poor reviews on the Burris considering it's about $100 more, so I'm stuck and the season opens Saturday which means little time to get used to my new set up. In addition to the price, the choice in reticles seems appealing on the Konus, but I'm leary of few reviews.
There are a few others in the case, including a Weaver Qwik Point, Tasco Pro Point and Edot 30mm, and I didn't spend much time looking at any low power scopes, although I'm open to a lower cost/dependable scope as well if you can pursuade me that a sub $225 scope is best.
I'm interested in hearing from anyone with specific good/bad experience with any of the optics listed above, or if anyone has any compelling reason not to use a red dot for fairly close quarter deer use.
- Konus Red/Green Multi Reticle
- Burris Speed Dot 135
