Just got one at a show for under $1K tax included.

I need recommendation for optics…… prefer a scope but don’t want a large one. Have plenty of good red dots andACOG.

Looking at max range to use it 200 - 300 yards. However my shooting range is 100 yards.

Primary Arms? Osprey?

Thanks
Jim

I have been using an SWFA SS 12x for load development with my SFAR, but I have a PA 3x microprism that I actually intent to use it with. My range goes out to 1250 yds, I'll probably try this setup out to 500 yds to see how my holdovers work out, but I really intend to use it primarily as a woods gun up to ~250 yds, and want something handy and quick. PA just came out with a 5x microprism, so that might be a good fit as well.

I have a Primary Arms 1-6x with the .300/7.62x39 reticle inbound! It was only $250 or so but it's gonna be my first LPVO, so I didn't want to drop a ton til I see how the form factor works for me.

How about a Vortex Ranger 1-4x LVPO? Good deal at euro optics about 50% off retail. I doubt the SFAR is a match grade rifle requiring high magnification optics.

I put a SIG MSR-Tango 10x on mine...no complaints other than it's a little larger and heavier than I'd like. I initially mounted my Burris RT-6 6x on it, but my aging eyes appreciate the extra power.

I put a Burris RT-6 LPVO on my SFAR and I like it. I think the Ruger SFAR is a great value and Burris is a great value. It just made sense to put the Burris on it.

I'd be real tempted to suggest a US Optics TS12 I have a couple on ARs and they're really nice and very compact.

100-300 yards… but what are your intended targets and/or what is your desired potential precision on target?

For big targets, I know I CAN shoot 300-400, or even beyond with 1-4x scopes, but I can’t think of the last time I have done so. My general purpose scopes are all 4-16x ballpark, because I know I’ll be refining aim on sufficiently small targets to be advantaged by a little extra magnification.

I'm gonna suggest against a LPVO, I've just never really liked them in use as much as other options.

Since the SFAR is nice and svelte, I think a scope and mount that's also a little lighter in weight would be a good match.

Something like a Leupold 3.5-10 in ADM Recon mounts won't weight much at all and be plenty of glass for punching groups out to 300.

I do really like my PA micro 3x prism. It's also very light and a nice eye box.

It would really help suggestion if you share you're current plan for using the SFAR.

Are you invisioning it being shot prone, off bags and bipods mostly, or a a hiking companion, hunting rifle, just to have a fun general purpose battle rifle?

All would garner different suggestions.

Mission dictates gear, or horses for courses as @Varminterror would say.

Really don’t have a specific plan such as hunting. Basically want to sight it in at 100 yards and shoot it occasionally. I have lots of toys to play with…. But I try set op my pieces with good optics. Been looking at Primary Arms. First is the SLX 1-8X24 FFP Raptor. $479 and the other is the GLX 1-6X24. M6 Mil. $588. There are two options:
Reticle: ACSS Griffin-M6
Reticle: ACSS Raptor-M6

I will check out the Leupold.

Checked out the Leupold online. That looks like a good optic, and a good value.

End game:

Primary Arms GLx 1-6x24mm FFP Rifle Scope - Illuminated ACSS Raptor-M6 Reticle.

Aero Precision mount
