Optimizing accuracy and budget. Help!

At this point I think the OP has come to the realization that the concepts "Optimizing accuracy" and "budget" don't belong in the same thought process.

Well, it's all relative. I bought my custom rifle used (20 rounds) from a guy who really wanted to buy a wedding ring in a hurry and I got that at a budget-y price. And the US Optics scope on it was bought at a discount from @taliv when he upgraded, then it was sent back to be refurbished from the manufacturer for a newish feel.

I feel good about what I've got in it, but I haven't confessed its price to the wife. Much less with the suppressor, and the rangefinders, and... :uhoh:

Learn proper breathing technique will probably help the most and cost nothing.:):)

My wife knows my hobby can be expensive and has a good understanding of what nice guns can cost as I collect Series 70 Colt guns. What she does not have a handle on is how many of the things are in the gun safe and I am very good with that. Maybe a few guns every now and then find their way into my life less her knowledge. Works for me anyway. :)

That wife unit sounds as though it has some serious drawbacks to belonging to the gun of the month club. I have for many years dodged that particular bullet.:D Although there have been a couple or three close calls.:p

I'm not much help, but my wife threatened to run the reloading bench outside because of spent primers making crazy noises in the vacuum. Lee classic cast solved that problem for me. Hollow ram with a catch tube on the bottom contains the spent primers. It's a fine press for loading too.

Trimmers have guides that can be used to cut cases uniformly, however I suspect that a dialed in load can be further dialed in by adjusting case length, but that may be such a miniscule improvement that it is not notable.

Re: my comment regarding sorting bullets relative to their base to ogive measurements.

I took some of my .308 180g SMKs and measured a handful. I took some from the median range and selected 5 that were exactly the same. Then I took 2 of the smallest and 3 of the largest to maximize the variation.

I loaded them up and shot 2 groups, 5 shots each at 100 yards. Exactly the same base to ogive on the left, widest range of varition on the right.

I understand this is not a statistical significant sample size, but it doesn’t appear to have much impact on the down range results. If anything, the group with the concentrated variation is slightly smaller
