I bought an item on gun broker. I sent the seller an email asking where to send the check to. I got no response and when I checked the contact seller under his info it says Order canceled. I got no notice of this. Anyone have this happen before?

I've never had it happen to the little I've done on there.

Was your winning bid a good deal? Maybe they didn't like the price you got it for and their gun buddy was busy that was supposed to shill bid the item up.

I've had my suspicions that the above has happened to me. But no way to know.

Well still not explanation from the seller. I left Neg. Feedback. If it was damaged or lost I would assume they would have contacted me but it was canceled the same time the auction ended.

I've had that happen on another site. I was invoiced, paid, got shipping notification, then a full refund, no explanation at all. The shipping info showed the item awaiting pick-up. No response from the seller and the site doesn't have an issue with this activity. Seller can change their mind, no recourse.

Said no one ever.

Seriously, Guns International sees less web traffic than ....

Congratulations!, that puts you in the running for 'Post of the Year', and NO, I did not click the link.

To the Ops topic, I know that GB sides with the seller every time (from who they get their money)
so I do not believe your taking the matter to GBs so called customer support will do much.

Just remember to keep an eye on your feedback as well. That's what I would save going to customer support about
with copies of sent e-mails and such.

I’ve had similar happen. I won the auction. Only bid. Seller “sold” concurrently in store. Seller refunded my money. Weeks later, same item up for sale again, same seller. Seller has/had A+ rating.

Maybe it’s a scam. Maybe it’s timing. Won’t happen to me twice.

Once an auction has ended a binding contract has been established, if all terms and conditions are met. Those terms are often listed in a separate window under Additional Terms of Sale. When a GB seller cancels an order, he has to give a reason, like NPB, item illegal in buyer's state and then the seller will get the fees and taxes refunded.

How do you know that Gunbroker favors the seller every time? Do you suspect this or have actual experienced more than once times?

As a seller on GB I have to disagree.

I haven't bought a gun directly through Guns International, but there are several dealers within driving distance whose listings I check, as well as a friend I shoot Trap with who sells on there. I look him up on there in the off season (off season for him- I shoot year round) to see what he has for sale over the winter.
Through perusing Trap guns, I saw one I liked, and drove a couple hours to look at. I now own it.
I have noticed a distinct division in Guns International sellers; The "Classic" gun crowd, and the "Plastic" gun crowd. (No dig at either group- I belong to both.)

Some sellers state they reserve the right to sell the gun locally while item is up for bid on GB. Some have detailed payment requirements while others want a positive history of the bidder. I have never had a problem but expected one recently buying a cZ-457 because my winning bid was way below even my hopes. No matter the reason though you should have been made aware of the reason. Just bad business. It was proper to leave negative feedback! Feedback should be important as “customer service” used to be important. The downside of auction sites.

Twice in the early stages of my GB career I was faced with sending payment to another name and address after winning the bid.
GBs resolution center gave me no choice or I would have been listed as a NPB, even after I sent them the curse filled e-mail rants from one of the sellers.

As I have stated before, NPB bidders (including the shills of a very small percentage of the sellers) are the biggest problem GB faces.
GB realizes that there is simply no way to eliminate the NPBs (and the resulting refunds to the sellers), so they inadvertently
(or reluctantly) have to accept those sellers with a higher than normal NPB rate.

The same reluctant acceptance goes to the seller who claims 'it sold before I could cancel the auction'.
To dismiss all such sellers from GB, who are mostly brick and mortar, would hurt their bottom line because the money
from the seller is the only reason GB is in business.

I had one sale that was canceled because the seller apparently didn’t want to sell the gun to a Ca buyer, but didn’t put that in the terms or I wouldn’t have bid. He canceled the sale before I paid anything, I just bought a similar gun elsewhere later on.

A second time I magically had a GB bidder sign up the day it was to end, outbid me, then the Flattop .44 Spl was back up for auction a few days after it ended. I checked, and the shill bidder didn’t get an F from the seller. I also bought a similar gun later (for much less ;)).

I did have a seller list and take payment for .32 H&R cases but didn’t have them in stock to ship. Weeks went by and I had to threaten a BBB complaint, among other threats of negative feedback, in order to get the auction cancelled and my money back. :fire:

Stuff occasionally happens. I have bought well north of 100 guns off GB, where I live in Ca it is NOT easy to find guns locally other than the most popular new ones. :(

Stay safe.
