I've always wanted a 22 mag rifle and just never bought one. So in honor of my bday on Sunday, I went ahead and ordered one. I was on the fence between the CZ 455 American and the Ruger 77/22mag. Considering the CZ was $270 cheaper, that's what I went with. I had a 455 Varmint 22lr a couple years ago and regretted selling it. I decided to take a gamble and top it with a Zeiss Terra 3-9x42.

And I also ordered 1500 rounds of 22 mag ammo! Happy bday to me!

A relative just picked up a barely used Marlin 22 mag, tube feed bolt action at a gun show. We were shooting it along side my Savage 17 hmr. Both very accurate and fun to shoot. In my estimation the 22 mag was a little louder. We were shooting the CCI (mini mags?)

A very Happy Birthday (in advance, of course), to you and a great choice for a birthday present!

Thanks everyone. Looking forward to getting it and mounting the scope. Curious to see the quality on the Zeiss Terra scope. I'll be sure to post some pics.

Congratulations. And I wish I had some of your 1500 rounds of ammo! It's been a long, long dry spell around here on WMR ammo. :(
I'm expecting you'll love the CZ. This thread needs pictures so here's my 452 Lux in 22 Magnum:

Thanks. I was pretty lucking to get the ammo.

The gun came in today and I'm very impressed. The stock has above average grain figure. It's a trim and slim little gun and that's what I was after. Very high quality and probably a little nicer than my last 455.

The Zeiss scope and Leupold medium rings came in, but that's where I ran into my problem. The rings put the scope too low and the bolt handle hits the rear bell of the scope. I'm hoping that moving up to Leupold 11mm high rings will give me enough clearance. I was sure ready to get the scope mounted and start shooting today.

I have plenty of 22 mag ammo myself. Got most of it from Palmetto State Armory. I am starting to see more in the stores though it is not always cheap.
