Ever see the movie Canadian Bacon?

How about this from the Daily Show: Steven Colbert doing a peace on Canada and saying "Canada, a nation of harmless p*ssies".

Time to invade Canada. How many Boy Scouts will it take?

I second that emotion. I had an unpleasant experience with the Canadian
border officials some 20 years ago as I attempted to drive from Detroit
into Windsor. After they allowed me to enter their beautiful country,
they ordered me into the customs checkpoint where they proceeded to
harrass, harangue, and insult me to the point that I considered punching
the little weasel in the face.
It all boiled down to one fact, and one question: Fact-I had "Texas" license
plates on my pick-up. Question- "Do you own any guns, do you have any guns with you, how many guns do you own, are they all in Texas, how many
"handguns" do you own, do you have any guns in your truck, are you bringing
any guns into Canada, why do you own guns, etc. etc. etc.

After 15 minutes of this BS, I put both hands up in the air to surrender,
and told the guy I really didn't want to go into Canada, and could I please
just leave and go back to Detroit. HA!!! That's when we got to go outside and watch the little weasel stripsearch my truck. Everything he took out of the truck went on the ground. We weren't allowed to touch anything while he trashed our vehicle. After an hour of finding nothing incriminating, he signed some form and handed it to me and told us we could leave. Then
he walked away, leaving us to pick up all the contents of our vehicle off the ground. Just writing this reminds me of how much I would like to get my hands around that little weasel's throat.

I say, when we bring all the troops home from Iraq, line them up on the
Canadian border, and give them 24 hours: Be annexed, or be invaded.
I have no animosity toward the Canadian people, I'm sure they are all
"salt of the earth". But the Canadian government is a Socialist experiment
gone crazy, and it should be put out of our misery.

You must remember that Canadians are a proud people. We should take special care not to hurt their feelings.

One of their poets, I think it was Robert Service wrote:

We are a sovereign nation
Bow to no foreign will.
But whenever they cough in Washington
They sneeze on Parliament Hill.

I was once a Canadian, but I cured myself. Became an American citizen.

They didn't like people of my ethnic persuasion. Sokay. I didn't much like them, either.

Well, the middle and Western states of Canada can see through the hype...

EDITORIAL: Blame Canada!

There's one constant and recurring theme when it comes to the federal Liberals: When in doubt, blame the Yanks. Prime Minister Paul Martin was up to his usual cynical standards this week when American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice paid a brief visit to Ottawa.

Rice has circled the globe many times and visited 40 other countries before finding time for Martin and his government.

That should tell you exactly where Martin's Liberal regime fits in to the Bush administration's priority list.

Martin, obviously giving his spring election platform a test drive, has been ramping up his anti-American rhetoric for weeks. The most obvious example of this has been the ongoing softwood trade dispute over the abysmal lack of proper timber fees charged by Canadian provinces.

But the scourge of drive-by shootings, drug gang turf wars and other gun crimes that are plaguing Canada's major cities was also high on the agenda when Rice and Martin sat down to dinner Monday night. That was when the prime minister tried to pin the blame on the Americans for all the illegal handguns in circulation in Canada.

Rather than hang his head in shame and admit that the Liberals' firearms registry has been a dismal and extremely expensive failure in curbing gun crimes, Martin tried to pass the buck to U.S. President George W. Bush's top diplomat and his potential successor.

Nice try, Paul.

Fortunately, Rice's intellectual elevator goes a few storeys higher than does Martin's.

She told the hyperventilating Liberals to stop the "apocalyptic language" about a softwood lumber trade war and get back to the negotiating table.

And clearly that should also apply to fingering the Americans for the big-city gun murders - from the spate of shootings that have plagued Toronto in recent months to a record-high murder rate in the city of Edmonton, a statistic that grew this week with what appears to be the unprovoked fatal shooting of Sara Easton.

The Liberals spent untold billions of dollars registering duck guns and deer rifles, treating millions of peaceful Canadians as potential criminals in the process.

Surely it must be painfully obvious even to Martin that the criminals who partake in the city shooting sprees do not register their weapons of choice.

Don't blame the Americans for Canadian gun violence. Don't blame Canadian hunters or sport-shooting enthusiasts, either.

Instead, blame Paul Martin and his Liberals who squandered billions of dollars on their deeply flawed registry that could have been spent on effective law enforcement.

Did not Canada undercut our prohibition of alcohol
in the 1920s by leaving alcohol legal? Or was the
problem really that prohibition of legal X does not
affect illegal abuse of X?

Carl

By the time the USA got around to prohibition Canada had already gone through it and repealed it.The booze went both ways as needed:) .

If Martin wants to crack down on illegal guns he should beef up border inspection. He's just as wrong as the people that blame Canada for illegals crossing the border. If you don't want them then stop them.
