To elaborate on concealment of a full size 1911 - which come in 10mm.
Loose untucked shirt and shorts (summer attire), 1911 is easily concealed.

As I said before, for me, a Glock 20SF is concealable AIWB. (Not pictured)

All these 1911's are 10mm: Ruger, Ruger, Kimber, Colt
The Ruger came with black sights, I "enhanced" them to 3 dot. :D
I shot a deer with the Delta Elite and a Hornady 155 XTP

Now that is a beautiful sight. Nearly brought me to tears! Lol. Especially that Delta elite. I'd love one of those bad boys! I carry a Glock 20 with a lone wolf standard length barrel and a 4lb trigger in the woods. I love glock's coating, it stands up to just about anything and I can get 1380fps with a 180gr xtp with some hand weighed imr-800x loads with very little signs of pressure.

I think you’re looking for 2 different guns.

I have a 642 I carry while backpacking. I have a 5” 629 for hunting/range.

A 4” 357 or full size 10mm semi could “bridge the gap” but it wouldn’t make for a great hunting handgun. And I still leave my 4” Model 66 at home usually when woods bumming.

I think you will regret bringing a 44 mag unless you stay within a mile of your vehicle. And you’ll regret hunting with something small enough to carry.

I agree with HB. I've been carrying a Glock 29 for the last 12 or so years. It's great "little" handgun but if you really want to maximize the potential of a 10mm you will need a longer barrel. Then again, that is true of any of the handguns you have listed. With the increase in popularity of the 10mm it's easier to find factory loads that get close to what the 10mm can accommodate. But, I have noticed that there are "better" loads for the .357 Magnum as well. I don't own a .44 so I can't talk about that.

It comes down to what you can carry and will shoot and get comfortable with.

I voted Glock 29. I carry a Glock 40 MOS in a Hill People Gear kit bag for hunting and a S&W 637 for backpacking.

I have a Taurus model 415 41mag with a 2 1/2" barrel.
Then honestly I think you're good. My preference around grizzly bear and moose would be a 44 or bigger, but a 41 with monolithics or hard casts is a lot of punch. Grizzlies are much smaller than coastal brown bears, but can still get up over 800 lbs. But a heavy hard cast or the heaviest monolithic available will still truck on through them.

Id save the money. But if it's an excuse, then go 44 or bigger.

I voted for the Redhawk because of the intended use for hunting.

But I hike and am in the Idaho wilderness all the time and I carry a Glock G29 with KKM 4.5" barrel with Dawson FO sights in a Bianchi military flap holster.

Trey I'm curious why you chose that setup rather than buy a G20. Do you swap out the barrel and mag for a standard configuration when you want to conceal it? If so, then I get it.

Just asking, not critiquing. I am probably going to pick up a G29 at some point.

I wanted a compact 10mm for hiking, and I like the ability to add the G20 mags and G20 length barrel for the obvious advantages. That said, I so rarely carry it in it's original configuration that if I had to do it over, I may have just got the G20 in the first place. It's nice to have the option of more compactness, but honestly, I really don't notice the increased length in G20 form.

Missing 411
Definitely carry
Id go with the Glock 29 with Underwood ammo

myself a Glock 20 is my personal choice

I live in CO and carry a G29 for backpacking but I wouldn’t hunt with it. It wouldn’t be accurate enough at distances beyond 25 yards in my hands. I think the XDM 10mm or G20 would be perfect for both...
