The guy that burned himself was not of the same caliber, or focus, of the other 3.

I really was rooting for Ray, but Mace and Murray are great craftsmen and great guys as well.

Just got around to watching it today. Pretty good way to finish off the season.

I really have to wonder why they don't ever have the smiths make blade in lengths that are more useful and realistic in day to day tasks. Something with a blade in the 3-5" length. They're all 9" and over, which is totally useless for most tasks a knife is used for.

I suppose it just gives more length with more opportunity for errors, asymmetry, and of course, a more dramatic looking final product that gets ratings.... ok fine. I answered my own question.

I'd just love to see a practical blade...

"It...will...kill", the three most irritating words on the whole show.
True...it sure will kill, but if its the attacker or the attackee is sometimes the question. Blades rushed to completion with known stress fractures being beaten to test durability is ludicrous. If the blade snaps when they are hacking at ice, bamboo, hogs, whatever the blade becomes a projectile with enough heft and velocity to sever an artery. As a handloader I look at it like firing off a known doublecharge. Will it hold together for THIS whack is not the right question to be answering by hand with no PPE.
