Outlandish, even by Californa standards. How many bites at the apple does one get?

the thing that annoys me the most about cases like this is that an inanimate object is blamed for a tragedy, while in any other situation, it would be the fault of actual people. Think about what that article would say if it were about a kid who ran over his friend with his parent's car because they left the keys in a place where he could get them. Would they be suing ford because the car doesn't have an indicator to show that it's on, or in gear, or maybe because the pedals weren't labeled clearly enough and the kid didn't realize he was stepping on the gas and not the brake? I don't think so, and it doesn't make any more sense to blame a gun manufacturer for human error.
BTW, where are the criminal negligence charges against the father of the kid who pulled the trigger? Obviously, the kid hadn't been taught anything about firearms and shouldn't have had access to one:rolleyes:

rules and agendas

Somebody back up the thread got it right when he mentioned this law suit as a part of an agenda.

On the rule thing:

Rule #1 -- the gun is always loaded.

Rule #2 -- when the gun is not loaded, see rule #1.

I think nico's got a valid point -- that poor old guy in SoCal that plowed through a crowd has a slam dunk case against the auto manufacturer: The pedals weren't clearly labeled!

This case is pathetic, and the pretense for retrying it is nothing less than double jeopardy.

Alan-

Some gun models, like my HK USP, have a little dab of red or orange paint on the extractor, that is only visible if a round is in the chamber. This is the LCI.

I don't really recall what the LCI on a Beretta would be.

"If a cheap disposable camera can tell you when it's loaded, surely a handgun should indicate when there is a bullet in the chamber," Dix's father, Griffin Dix, wrote in a local newspaper editorial published after legislation was passed requiring clear chamber-loaded indicators and mechanisms that make guns inoperable if bullet

:barf:

It seems that some people are so dumb that they believe that because you point and shoot a camera at friends and family, you should be able to do the same with a handgun, is the reason why some states are banning them. So according to Dix- look at camera, if apparantly loaded with film, ok to shoot family. If handgun appears unloaded,ok to shoot family. When are we as a society going to stop catering to the lowest common denominator and start holding people responsible for their actions? :banghead:

The beretta 92 does have a loaded chamber indicator- a bright red spot of paint on the extractor, even so, I believe its entirely foolish to use any indicator to determine if a chamber is empty or not- the paint could wear off, or the extractor could be damaged. Its NEGLIGENT to point the gun at someone and pull the trigger whether the gun is empty or not.
