I don't know if it was outrageous, but I got a mechanically perfect P7M8 for $550. It was a cop gun of all things and the bluing was wearing off from holster wear but otherwise it was quite mechanically perfect. I sent it to a finishing shop and had them put a hard chrome on it. Total cost to me is about $800 and it is about as close to perfect and you would believe.

About 2 years ago I bought a like new, rearsenaled Russian SKS with a clack bolt for 175 bucks. All numbers matched except the magazine.

maybe not the best deal ever but for my first handgun i think it's a hell of a deal. I got a sigma 9mm with $50 rebate and 2 free mags ($35 each), on top of that i got a free $75 gift card from opening a bank account. price OTD after tax: 200 bux. Gun never fails me, very accurate and probably had 1200 rds so far.

A flawless post-war Smith & Wesson M&P .38sp 6inch, matte finish, all matching numbers: cylinder, barrel, frame, and yes, the original matching number diamond grips! :D all in its original gold tone box-

Asking price:
$250.00

Paid in cash:
$250.00 No questions asked-

Hello

I usually only buy guns if they are great deals, but two recent purchases were real barn burners.

1st was a beautiful silver Colt Mustang Pocketlite with 1 mag for $350

2nd was a S&W M&P-15 with an EoTech for $799

Both were slightly used and found at a local gunshop. That's why I check the local shops every couple of days:D

Lew Horton S&W 3" Model of 1989 625 for $350 in a pawn shop in a university town. The clerk told me he had planned to buy the next day -- the shop owner had a rule that employees could not buy a gun in the shop until it was there at least seven days. It's a great shooter and looks meaner than cat s**t.

oh, i also know a guy who paid $100 for 2 brand new colt police special .38s.

I can't think of any screaming deals that I have bought over the years. Screaming deals are what other people find, not me.

The one gun purchase that has stood out over the years was a NIB 2.5" Colt Diamondback .22 (blue) for $400-$450. Can't remember exactly, but I did not negotiate and bought it on the spot at a gun shop. They were selling for about $1000 then. The box alone was worth $150 then. Now the box is worth about double that and the gun 6x the purchase price.

S&W Model 59 Devel Fullhouse...came with 2 original mags and an Alessi shoulder holster. Found it at Gander Mountain in December and bought it the next day. All for $380.

Heck of a sale

I was at the 3rd annual Share The Outdoors swap meet today in Dover Kansas. I got three great deals all for diffrent vendors.

1st Ruger super redhawk .44 mag I already have one but who care. I gave $375 for it less than 2 boxes of shells through it. Plus a shoulder rig, a pistol belt and holster, and 4 boxes of ammo all for $375.

2nd Remington 700 bdl .338 win mag with 2 boxes of ammo and a Leupold vary xIII 4-12x40 AO for $650.00

3rd Remington 870 wingmaster 28ga NIB for $525

I was also working as a vendor and managaed to sell enough stuff to pay for one of the guns.

I just bought a 3" S&W model 65 .357 magnum revolver. It came with the original box, papers and sale receipt, some once-fired brass, some loaded ammo, a Gould&Goodrich holster, two speed loaders and a speed loader holder for $200.00!!!!!!
I bought it from the original owner and it is in absolutely perfect condition.

Okay... I got a WWII Remington Rand for the price of two door hinges. I was working on my friend's parents' window when the neighbor said something like I wish you could do that at my house. I volunteered to, and she paid me with a 90% RR.

Here's one to even out all those "I stole it from some desperate widow" stories... About 25yr ago, I was looking for a skeet shotgun found one from a guy who was out of work; I'll call him 'Gary'. Gary was gonna 'treat me right' and cut me a fire sale on his shotgun because he really wanted to sell on the spot. I got the sense that "desperate" didn't quite describe his plight. I offered him $50 over his ask of $450; we rousted up an FFL and did the deal right then. It's not like I don't mind skimming a good deal when I can (and I ain't against grinding real hard when the time's right), but puttin' the screws to them that're already hurting just don't seem right.

2 different deals

A buddy of mine was going thru a divorce and needed money for a lawyer. He offered to me a Remington model 7400 in 30-06 with sling and weaver 4X scope mounted on see thru rings and a Winchester model 120 12ga. pump shotgun for $400. Not a mark on either weapon. I jumped on that one.
Second time, a good friend of mine was clearing out his closet and offered me an SKB model 200E side by side 12 ga. with the gold trigger. He knew the value but would only take $400 for it. These range from $1000 to $1600. I felt kinda guilty but he said if I didn't take it, he would sell it to someone else. I bought it and gave it to my son for Christmas.

I got my Benelli M1S90 a couple years ago. I doubt it had been shot more than 5 times. There are some deep gouges inside the receiver, so I assume the previous owner tried doing something stupid to it. Aside from that it was perfect, and in like new condition. Plastic factory take down case, choke tubes, wrench and manual, for $600.

Well I can input on this myself so here we go.
A few months ago a guy I worked with invited me over to look at some handguns he had that he didn't shoot anymore.

I went over there and this is what happened.

I got a hammerless taurus .357 stainless revolver for $50
A springfield 1911 that was a basket case.It was all together but it had parts from all different mfg. The plunger tube was broken I got it for $75

I sold the taurus for $200
I sold the 1911 for $200

4 years ago I got a yugo sks that was in great condition besides the barrel looking like a sewer pipe for $69. The barrel looked awful but it would group 3 inches at 25 yards with iron sights and wolf ammo.

hehhehe, hot off the press here:
was talking to a buddy of mine in the ct air guard today at drill and i asked him if he'd be interested in selling his ar 15 (which i knew he had, but knew nothing more). What i didn't know is that it is a NIB bushmaster flat top model with a used eotech holographic sight and 30 rnd mag. His wife had been on him as to why he even bought it so he was happy to sell.
to sum it up i got:
1 30 round mag
100 rnds 5.56mm federal ammo
1 eotech sight (with buttons on side, AA battery powered model)
1 nib bushmaster flat top ar 15
for 900 bucks square.
for todays prices on ar 15's that's damn hard to beat, i plan to keep the mag, eotech, and ammo and sell the rifle.
the highlight is i'll ultimately be getting a free eotech holographic sight for this exchange.

A few weeks ago I bought a Swiss K31 with clamp-on scope mount and Sightron 6x (I think?) scope for $299. The rifle had all matching #s, though no slip of paper under the buttstock with the soldiers info. Seeing as these rifles are drying up - especiallly with like serial #s - and are going for over $200, I figured an extra $100 for a $70 scope mount and ~$200 scope was a good deal. Especially since the scope mount doesn't mar or otherwise alter the gun.
