Folks,

I like guns, I collect guns, I don't sell my guns (anymore). I own in most of the regular calibers of pistol, shotgun and rifle and I keep several times my weight in ammunition for most of my firearms.

But I just realized that I own at least one gun that I haven't bothered to keep ammo around for it any more. It is my SW 586 6" revolver. Shoots both .38spl. and .357 Magnum. Great firearm, butter smooth trigger, but I don't ever shoot it anymore and I haven't purchased ammo for it in 7-8 years at least. Will I sell it? -nope!

Is this strange? Does anyone else own firearms in modern calibers but also don't bother keeping ammo for it anymore?

add: Just realized I don't have any .40SW left either, and I own 2 pistols in this caliber, but I will be adding a SW 642 sometime this month, so I'll probably be adding .38 spl. back to my 'owned' list.

That's funny I was thinking of starting this same thread today.

As far as I know I have ammo for everything I own.

I have a HS .22mag derringer. I don't believe I have a round for it. I wouldn't mind having two rounds, but I'm not about to buy a box of 50. I carried this gun as a back up in the 60's. Better choices are available today.

I have a .32 acp. I have no more than six rounds of ammo for it. No big deal. I haven't fired it in 30+ years.

I have a couple of .380's and no more than half a box of ammo between them. That's enough.

There are two .32 S&W's with only one ancient half box of ammo. Big deal. I haven't fired either since the 50's.

So you can't blame any of the ammo shortage on me.

I don't have any 44 mag ammo for my poor spanish astra and my 22 mag derringer hasn't seen action in a few years either. I've never bought proper ammo for my nagant, but I think I have a few 32 s&w kicking around somewhere for it.

Yup, and it's no fun, let me tell you. I have a very nice Walther PP Super in 9x18 Ultra that's just itching to be shot ... and no ammo to pull the trigger on. In a word, nuts.

I'm getting extremely low on 380ACP. Haven't been able to find any for some time now. I'm probably down to my last 100 rounds in that chambering.

I have ammo for every thing I own, even a disassembled .32 S&W top break.

I have ammo that I don't have guns for, actually. Two ammo cans of 7.62x39, a few boxes of 7.62x54R, some .223.

I just got an SKS - maybe we should swap some stuff!

But as to guns with no ammo, only two:

1) Need some 30-30 for my 1894

2) I need some grenades for the launcher on my Yugoslavian SKS - My local Wal Mart hasn't had them in stock in ages...

On the flip side of that, I also have ammo but no guns to shoot them in - some .38 S&W and a few boxes of .40 S&W. I agreed to trade a guy a 1911 frame I have for a Glock 23 just so I can shoot up my ammo. Then I intend to sell the Glock.

Haven't had ammo for my ZKK 602 .375 for years. I was going to rechamber it in .378 WBY. so never bought brass, dies, etc.

let's see; gun with no ammo= not shooting gun, what good is gun?

exactly, hence why I sold some of my EBRs because ammo is getting hard to find (at reasonable prices). It's a waste of space and especially money to have a $1600 EBR sitting in my safe collecting dust so out she goes for something that I can shoot more often.
