I'm in the market for a compact cz for concealed carry and I am finding myself unable to decide.

I had more or less settled on a p07 not finding any real reason why it would be a bad choice. But after discussing with the wife who had commandeered my sp01 tactical not to long back (and whom has a moral objection to polymer), has offered to pay the difference of getting a p01 or similar as incentive not to buy the p07.

Now that being said, I'm not going to spend my wife's money just because she offered, but the option is there should I choose to take it.

So I ask you all, which is the better beat around carry gun in your opinion? If you happen to have both, any size comparison pics would be appreciated as I have only handler the p07 thus far.

Thanks

Pardon the typo on the poll, it should read mandatory, but due to this qwerty keyboard and my inability to spellcheck my work....

I voted P-07. I've never been a fan of the D or de-cocker 75 models as the triggers aren't that great IMO.

The P-07 though...fantastic. I believe it uses the Omega trigger system, might explain the difference.

The P-07 is closer in size to my P99 than the P-01 I had, but a little lighter for sure.

With CZs my preference is for the metal frame ones so I voted P01.

I recently handles some new CZs and my LGS and the SA trigger pull was nice on the P07 and P01 though the DA trigger pull on both was not so good though I imagine both would improve quite a bit with use and/or lighter hammer spring.

If the CZ Kadet .22 adapther kit is something that would interest you, then you need the P01. I am thinking of getting one for my CZ SP01 Shadow now that prices are reasonable on them.

Tried them both and went with the P01. Feels just like a Hi-Power in my hand (my all time favorite 9mm.), and I actually prefer the aluminum alloy frame to the polymer of the P07. Also it can be used with the Kadet .22 conversion.

I have never shot a P-07. The only polymer CZ I have shot is the Phantom. I have held a P-07 at a gun shop, and while I really liked it I prefer the traditional CZ-75 grip found on the steel, and aluminum framed pistols. I voted for the P-01. I own the somewhat similar 75D PCR, so they feel similar to me.

Much prefer the p01 over the p07. More enjoyable to shoot especially with nice wood, alum or g10 grips. Also, not sure if the p07 will take the sp01 mags, but know the p01 will. Check that out if it matters to you.

Here I will make it easier for you as a couple of pictures are worth more than a thousand words, or poll votes for that matter.

I have a P07. It is a great gun. The Omega trigger system smooths out over time to result in one of the better DA pulls I have felt. I setup mine in decocker format, but you can convert the decocker to a safety without any tools or parts.

I love metal and wood pistols. My CZ-75 is by far the best-shooting 9mm I own. I think plastic is featureless, and is homely at best.

With that said after carrying a few years, I will probably never carry another metal-framed gun. Plastic guns just hide, and are much more comfortable after several hours of carry. The more rounded and thin they manage to be, the better. And I can attest to the fact that beavertails can dig painfully into your side. The CZ-07 does not look like a comfortable carry gun just from the ergonomics. I vote "other" Smith, Springfield, even Glock make pistols with less sharp jagged edges.

I had a P09 and while it was a good gun, it didn't really appeal to me and I ended up selling it. The steel framed CZs are incredible guns and I love my CZ75B.

I had a similar P-09 (duty, new version). While the trigger is smooth, the DA was so heavy it didn't matter and the trigger gave no indication when it was about to break. Some might like those characteristics, I didn't.

I imagine the P-07 trigger would be the same.

I have a slight preference for the P-01, but the Omega trigger on the P-07 that lets you swap the decocker for the thumb safety, and vice-versa, this is a brilliant design. Put that Omega trigger on the P-01, now you'd really have something special. But there really isn't a bad choice to be made between these 2 guns.

Just went through the same conundrum. I ended up going with the P01. I found one locally, lightly used, with 3 mags for $450.00. Not a stellar deal but a pretty good one nonetheless.
