I am thinking to add a H&K P2000 to my stable. I do not have any polymer guns, but had/carried a G17 many moons ago and did not like the grip. Did not shoot it accurately.
Held P2000, it feels great. It is light and I could CCW it.
How accurate will it be in 9 mm? I am thinking of DA/SA, the LEM trigger is too unfamiliar. Will the DA smooth out with use?
Your experiences please.;)

Never owned one, but i have held one and it did feel really good in my hands.

I have owned may HK USP's and USP Compacts, and they were all very good guns.

The P2000 was what got me into polymer pistols. It's an excellent gun. Handles like a polymer gun, shoots like a steel gun. Dunno how to explain it but the recoil characteristics is very pleasing.

The DA will smooth up a little bit with some shooting. But in general, the DA with the DA/SA guns leaves a lot to be desired in terms of pull length and pounds.

However, the SA is very smooth. It's not 1911 or Sig smooth but it's smooth. Which brings me to a big gripe: when you factor in the dollar amount that you spend on an HK pistol, the trigger is horrible. Overall, it's not bad but when you're paying $700+ for the gun, you expect a trigger that is at least "good" out of the box.

The pistol is very accurate, still and I would feel confident in carrying it.

With the price of ammunition, I would stick with the 9mm. Good shot placement with the 9mm is better than bad shot placement with the .40 S&W. The price difference will allow you to practice more or less.

Oh yeah, you get 4 backstraps with the pistol so you can kind of tailor the grip to your hand.

Buy it...you'll like it. I have the P2000SK variant 3 9 mm and love it. Shoots smooth and is very accurate. I like a good strong DA trigger for carrying. I just practice a lot with DA so I'm used to it. The SA to me is good but not as good as the 1911 type SA's but that is not how DA/SA guns are designed.

Get one and shoot it. I shot the P2000 in 9mm and really liked that too. I just wanted somthing a bit more concealable since I'm not a big guy and don't wear baggy shirts.

I never understand the excessive obsessions with triggers. You people would rather have a jamomatic POS with what's considered great trigger, compared to an ultra reliable gun? You still pay more for that jamomatic. THAT is what I don't get.

As long as you practice, you'll be fine. I have a S&W 915 that what 1911 people would consider the trigger is gritty. I can engage silhoutte target just fine. I doubt you will like it when you're at the business end of that pistol.

submit that this guy is far more reliable for the some other gun with the same price, just look at THR's autoloader forum, and you will see which one is the jamomatic ones. You actually get better deal with the HK while the other guys usually end up pay more, in price, and in shipping costs ;)

Thanks for advices, keep it coming please. How does P2000 compare to CZ P-01? The P-01 feels larger in the hand, but is plenty accurate and costs $250to 300 less in our neck of the woods.:)
BTW, I have been shooting/carrying 9 mm for years and do not want to switch to .40. I have a lot of confidence in 9 mm.

Take a look at the Walther P99 A/S - best gun out there in 9mm, IMHO - polymer or metal...

I will be buying a P2000 shortly

After fondling one and then shooting one the other weekend, I will be buying one as soon as my FL non-resident CCW comes in. I have always liked HK’s and wanted a USPc for a while now, but after shooting a P2000 I have changed my mind.

I don’t get the folks how say that the HK’s triggers are “horrible”. True, they are “glass rod-like”, like a custom 1911, but there are a lot of guns that are far worse. I have been shooting my USP45 for so long that maybe I am just used to it by now. And while yes, the DA pull long and a bit heavy, the SA pull is better than most duty autos that are out there.

I have a P99c AS, and I am going to be switching to a P2000SK v1 in .40. For me the LEM trigger is a better trigger for SD work.

My second gun was (is) P2000 .40 S&W.
I did carry it for a while, and still do sometimes.

IT IS THE BEST GUN I HAVE.

Now it's primary function is home defense, aka night stand.

P2000 and 1911 fit my hand like no other guns do!
It is also the most accurate gun I have.

Pricy, but worth every penny in my opinion.

The P2000 V3 in 9mm is my favorite handgun...period. I've sold all my Glocks since buying my first P2000 last fall. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a second P2000 "just because."

I don't think you'll be disappointed. But if you are, send me a message and I might take it off your hands.

I've owned a few USP pistols (both fullsize and compact). They were nice guns, but the P2000 was the first HK to really amaze me. I think you made a good choice.

Enjoy that P2000!

HK P2000 is very accurate and the LEM trigger is very smooth and useable. It only takes a little practice until you can make use of the short reset and stacking the DAO trigger.

The magazine release sucks however. It a lever that extends about halfway up the trigger guard. Don't get one unless you are willing to stick with HK's (or some Walthers) only. Almost every other modern handgun has a button on the side of the housing. You DON'T want to be stabbing for the wrong spot (either because you are reaching for the button on an HK or reaching for the lever a Glock, 1911, or whatever) when you should be changing magazines and getting back into the fight.

Whichever P2000 caliber you choose, get the LEM trigger, and have the 8.5 lb pull reduced to 5.5 lbs. I think you'll find the 9mm less diffucult to shoot well than the .40SW. Also try the forum over at HKPro. Great help there.

I own two P2000 HK's one in 9mm and the other in 40. Both shoot excellent and I can't really notice any difference in recoil between the two. My 40 has night sights and both have LEM triggers. Love them both, and both shoot to point of aim. You will not be sorry at all. Enjoy your HK but remember one thing, they ARE addicting. Let us know how you like the pistol.

I own both a P2000 and P2000sk. I think they are great and probably the most comfortable guns I have ever held.

The LEM trigger is great but it takes a bit to get used to. Once you get it you will enjoy it. I have not done the conversion from V2 to V1 but I want to.

I have .40 S&W because I feel it is a better round for ME. The .40S&W is very easy to shoot from the P2000 due to the recoil reduction system. I can only imagine that the 9mm is easier to shoot. I would contact www.policeguns.com when you are interested as they give you 3 mags and nite sites when you buy a gun from them.
