I thought I would post one of those threads since I've got it fairly narrowed down.

I need a handgun that very friendly to either hand, in 9mm. Concealed carry is not of primary importance, but it does matter somewhat. The price difference between the HK and the CZ is not important. Accuracy and reliability are.

I might need to do some hunting before I can find actual models to get my hands on.

Let's hear the opinions. :)

p.s. AFAIK these are the only two truely ambi autos on the market, aside from the P7 (which I already own). Am I missing any?

In terms of ambidextrous slide stop levers, the P2000 and CZ 85 are among those that qualify. The new S&W M&P pistol also sports ambi slide stop levers. I guess you should consider that, too.

I really like the P2000 (and P2000 SK), but have nothing bad to say about the CZ 85. Fondle both, and if possible, shoot both. For the P2000, I suggest V3 over V2. The SA trigger of the V3 is very smooth, and the decocker isn't a protrusion.

I haven't shot the 85, but I've enjoyed every other offering from CZ I could get my hands on. The P2000 has been a good companion to me now for about a year though. It fit my hand well, I liked the addition of the rail, and I had a friend looking to sell extra magazines. As a bonus, I've had no malfunctions, and the pistol is more accurate than I'll every be. Downside, HK costs more.

But, as always, try both and go with what works best for you. With those two you've got rock solid choices, so I don't think you could go wrong either way.
