I was wondering if anyone had first hand expierence with both of these guns and could offer up some useful insight?

I like to concealed carry in jeans and an untucked polo or t-shirt.....

I have read reviews of the 220 Compact and they said that you can now get 4 fingers on the grip and the beavertail makes it nicer to shoot.....

I cant find a 220 Compact (245) to hold but I can get one ordered if it's what I decide on.....

I like the ergos of the 220 carry as it feels perfect in my hand.

Anyway enough rambling just look for insight and advice, how you carry, your holster, opinions on concealing full size grip vs the compacts shortened grip..........

Anyway thanks in advance guys......

My advice: you're gonna have to grip it.

The 245 & its successor are a love it/hate it proposition.

I carry a 245. It fits my hand, it's easier to conceal than a service sized pistol, and it's all good for me. YMMV.

I have a P220 Carry and a P245. The P220 carry really isnt that much different than my standard P220, just a tad shorter barrel.

The P245 really isnt all that much smaller than either of them. SIG has a funny ideal as to what "compact" is, especially when they take a smaller gun and make it bigger and call it a "compact".

They all carry pretty much the same, so get what you like the feel of and shoot the best.

For some odd reason, I shoot just a tad better with the P245 than either P220.

When I set out to buy my first Sig Sauer 45, I had the opportunity to hold both the 245 and the P220 Compact. For me, the decision was an easy one: the Compact, with the beaver tail was the one. As for the grip - the small curl on the magazine makes all the difference when holding it in your hand. I shoot mine one handed only almost all of the time and have no problem putting the rounds where I'm aiming. I had the opportunity to shoot a P229 chambered in .357 Sig last week and it also shot just fine one-handed.

The ONLY problem I have encountered with owning a Sig Sauer P220 Compact is that I don't have an excuse to buy another. No other firearm has made me look so good at the range. And it's always satisfying when I let others fire it and see their pleased look.

Thanks guys-

Seems I really need to try to hold a 245, seems like it's either love or hate, I've heard that several times now.

Anyone else have holster advice? I was thinking of an OWB that rode close to the body, any suggestions?

I normally use an IWB type holster, Blade Techs and Milt Sparks VMII's, but also have a couple of OWB's, mainly Desantis Speed Scabbards.

Which ever you choose, keep in mind, you can use the same holster for the P220's, P245, P225/P6, and P226. If you get the "railed" version holster, you can use it for both the railed and non railed guns, if you get the non railed holster, your stuck with non railed guns. For what they get for a good holster these days, its nice you can get one for a number of guns, especially if you like the holster.

I own both and they both feel comfortable in my hands. You really have to hold them yourself to tell. What is okay for me might not be okay for you. Good luck.
